Our room was very dated & not very big. Not a bit like the picture on the website. It was very neglected with several things requiring attention, like no handle on wardrobe, plus the door was broken. The window was was cracked which let the draught in. The bathroom was no better, the shower cubicle was broken & could only... more

Arrive at Hotel and was disappointed at the dated, shabby decor. The rooms were small and the shower was little more than useless - you had to run around in order to get wet. The dining room was also dated and did not look too clean either. The food was awful, we let it go the first night hoping it... more

Yes, the Parkbury is like staying at your Granny's (decor a little dated)- your Granny always made you welcome did she not? Young staff, very cheerful and helpful-a very happy stay. Pool beautifully warm! Shower pressure rather poor-but a very clean hotel. Happy days and nights at the Parkbury. We would recommend a stay at The Parkbury. more

Why don't hotels look after the small details that would make a stay more pleasant? Things like - no lock on the bathroom door, shelf missing above the sink, coffee cold at breakfast, and probably the most annoying - no hot water at 9 o'clock in the evening. We didn't pay a lot through Lastminutecom so can't complain about value... more

had intended using this hotel as a base for sightseeing but checked out after only one night. All areas of hotel in need of a face lift, wallpaper hanging off wall in public areas, bedrooms very old fashioned with poor shower facilities. The outdoor pool totally unusable due to dirt on bottom of pool. Had expected hotel to be set in... more

I realise that this is an old hotel but surely the decor could be updated. The pool hadn't been cleaned for months - this was the main reason I decided on this hotel. The brochure gave an image that this hotel is set in its own grounds but it was on a main road and could be anybody's front garden.... more

When we arrived the hotel did seem abit dated with a very old feel about it but we were really impressed by the staff both on reception and during meal times. The rooms were again alittle old fashion but fine for the length of our stay 2 nights). The food was of good standard, quickly prepared and served by friendly... more

We booked this hotel for a weekend break with 6 friends. The hotel website is rather deceptive, and the reality is very different. We couldn't check in until 3 pm, something we were not made aware when booking. The room was quite dingy, the bathroom was small and not very clean, particularly the shower tray. For some reason the heating... more

The staff and manageress are absolutely lovely at The Parkbury and bent over backwards to look after us. The outdoor pool was a real bonus and so warm it was like swimming in a bath. The decor is a bit dated in places but our room for the money was good and the gardens at the front are lovely and... more
