I was so worried about the booking I'd made to return to the Altavia with friends for a Mother's Day weekend. I've always had a good experience at the hotel, it's cheap, in a great location, and the owner couldn't be more helpful. Yes, a bulb did blow when I entered the room, and upon reporting it the manager had... More

Very tasty breakfast; staff cater to my diverse dietary needs and are flexible with my need for early starts. Owner, wife and staff are very friendly. Comfortable social lounge, with large screen tv. Comfortable bar area with range of beverages on offer. Pleasant seaview; comfortable mattress and bed linen. Would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Well where do I start...no light in the room, meaning I had to use the light from the hallway and rush in and put the TV on so I could actually see what I was doing. Might have been better to stay in the dark as the room was appalling! 20 minutes wait for hot water, towels not changed all... More

Website is nothing like the hotel really is. Rooms never cleaned day by day the shower has been taken out of a caravan and put in the rooms takes 10 to 15mins for the water to get hot and bar is never stocked never open an awful place never ever book to stay there.

Stayed at The Altavia on a 4 night break and had been a little concerned due to some reviews, and yes the hotel décor is a little dated, but re-decoration was taking place whilst we were there and John and his staff more than made up for decorative issues. There is newish patio which is really nice, as well as... More

We booked a two night stay at this hotel via East London Travel. All went well the coach pick up was on time with a friendly driver. We did not expect to much from the hotel which reflected in the price we paid, but we did not expect what we received. On arrival we sure got the WOW factor to... More

Good location at the main road at Sandown , friendly staff and close to the sea side. The owner of the place can help you to book horse riding course or sea boat fishing trip. Not a first time group of Londoners come there , thank you John for the good place to stay ...definitely going to come again - max

This was a very friendly, comfortable Hotel, the older part was a bit dated...ie furniture & decor, but very clean which made up for that! The food was excellent....I am a very fussy eater but the Altavia employs a professional Chef which made all the difference! Christmas period was a bit quiet but Entertainment each night and good price Bar... More
