My wife and I recently thoroughly enjoyed a three night stay - belatedly celebrating a milestone birthday. We found the accommodation, service, food and facilities were all excellent, consistent with all other 'excellent' reviews.. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We were fortunate to have mostly very good weather. Played golf (course rated 39 in the world) which was wonderful... More

Kauri Cliffs was the second property in our trip to Australia and New Zealand that was voted the best hotel in the world by Conde Nast readers in 2013. This property is located in Matauri Bay in the northern part of the North Island of New Zealand. This property was developed by Julian Robertson, who bought 700 acres of farm... More

The setting is truly beautiful, we absolutely loved it despite the fact that we're non-golfers. What we didn't like that much was having to wear a jacket for cocktails and dinner, the fact that the gym and indoor pool were not clean, that housekeeping did a pretty poor job and the exact count of 3 canapés per guest and the... We had 5 days of Golf, long walks, exploration, sailing, horse riding and cooking. In between was the most comfortable accomodation and superior cuisine. Treated like royalty - it was hard to leave. Look forward to trying the other venues - Cape Kidnappers next time. Don't go worrying about the final bill - it is up there but worth it

My wife surprised me this March with a four night stay at Kauri Cliffs to celebrate my 40th birthday. It could not have been more perfect. We drove up from Auckland and unfortunately arrived later than planned due to a small detour and a major GPS snafu. We called the Lodge to let them know we'd be late for our... More

Being from the south of the USA, this lodge is like coming home. The wide porch and veranda or the main lodge to enjoy an evening drink while looking at the sunset is a absolutely majestic place. The golf is world class, the food, service, and welcoming to the lodge sets it apart from so many other 5 Star hotels... More

Top notch, world class resort overlooking beautiful New Zealand's Bay of Islands. The rooms have fireplaces and fabulous baths. It is professionally and seamlessly well run. The food is outstanding! John welcomed us on arrival and showed us around. He then said there was a barbecue option for dinner on the beach. We said yes and were driven down to... More

We had the most wonderful stay at Kauri Cliffs! Our host John, was ever present to help and assist us. The organisation of the barbecue on the beach (available for all guests to meet with each other) was a great succes on their superb Pink Beach. The wine tasting evening a true discovery of New Zeeland's wine varieties. And the... More

Our first location on our dream vacation to New Zealand was The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, Bay of Islands. Breathtaking views with a world-famous golf course that follows the Pacific Ocean is nothing short of spectacular. With a North Carolina decor flair the lodge itself and all the suites and villas are inviting, warm, and comfortable. The food was phenomenal.... More
