A feeling of warmth is the simplest comment to introduce you to Sandsides. I stepped into the house on a bright autumn day when the only external warmth to be found was in the golden light along the seafront, the North Sea a deep, dark blue and the falling leaves at the park's edge opposite, scattered by chill currents of air.... We stayed at Sandsides while traveling to watch a rugby World Cup game in Newcastle. A great place to stay with kids (playground in the park nearby, beach just down the road). A really warm welcome made us feel at home straight away. Tastefully furnished rooms with all the little things that make you feel like staying longer (like biscuits... More

An excellent, high standard B & B. The new proprietors have only been in residence or a few months. yet have managed to maintain the previous high standards. Clean ensuite rooms and comfortable beds. The home made biscuits in the room are a nice touch. A really good breakfast with plenty of choice. Nothing is too much trouble for our... More

I recently stayed at Sandsides with my 6 yr old son who has special needs re his behaviour. Barbara and Alan were very kind and tolerant and even gave him £1 when his first tooth fell out. It is perfectly situated across the road from the play park and water park which operates all evening in the summer. Also it... More

A home from home in Whitley Bay. Excellent B & B accommodation & a superb breakfast. We were all well looked after as usual, and look forward to staying there again next year, four our annual outing to the Great North Run.

We stayed at Sandsides when visiting relatives in the area and were not disappointed. Barbara and Alan were so welcoming that we felt at home straight away. The room was well appointed with a big TV and comfortable bed, and the en suite bathroom was fresh and clean. In fact the whole place was spotless! And Alan's breakfast was delicious.... More

On returning from Scotland we stopped by in Whitley Bay because we didn't want to stay in Newcastle. When looking for B&B, we walked past Barbara and Alan who were sitting in their front garden. They welcomed us friendly, and we stayed with them for 2 nights, which we didn't regret. The room was very clean (modern ensuite facilities), the... More

Returned for a second stay at this very homely guest house and was welcomed as a long lost friend by the owners Alan and Barbara. I received the same personal attention and was very satisfied with the cleanliness of the house and the brilliant breakfast. I will be back! Syd H.
