, I am writing this email after being shocked and disturbed all night, when I stayed at the REX hotel Whitley bay. And I expect a full refund of full payment after my dreadful night at the REX hotel. The Room itself was freezing, the TV didn’t work, the phone didn’t work and the shower was also freezing, I was... more

Upon our arrival, we were told about the noisey club. (thurs to sunday nights) I was so shocked at being told the truth, that we carried ahead with the booking which was a last min' choice (Tue to sat) Ive never seen so many pictures hanging outside an art gallery. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable beds, tea, coffee, 20"... more

In Rex Hotel there was one of the friendliest stuff's I saw duering my trip. Everybody was very helpful and nice. The hotel was very simple, but the room was clean, Only thing there can be complained about was the bathroom, shower didn't work propertly and it wasn't as clean as the rest of the room. Breakfast was full English breakfast,... more

I had booked to stay at this hotel for two nights but after seeing how filthy the front lobby was and tatty the rest of the hotel was I had my doubts, this was confirmed by the time I got to my room, it was smelly and dark, the bed was hard and the bathroom was not clean at all,... more

Rooms filthy, bathroom covered in mould and smelly, cupboards made our clean clothes dirty in dust, pillow on beds as flat as a pancake, stayed 3 nights but only because everywhere else was full, waited 50 minutes for breakfast as chef had forgot. holes in the walls, wallpaper hanging off, pigeon poo all over the windows and skills and the... more

I arrived home to Norway today after one week stay at the Rex Hotel..Staff: Very friendly. Service: Excellent. Food: They served a good Waverley Traditional English breakfast. Very good. Room: What you pay for, but OK. The room should have been equipped with a shotgun so I could have got rid of all the doves. All in all, a very... more

I went in the middle of the week, so very quiet for me. The staff was wonderful to me and the room was clean (not sure what the other people are talking about). It has a Victorian interior, and a beautiful view. It is over 100 years old and needs a bit of renovation, but for the price it is... more

It's true that you get what you pay for; and the room rate (including breakfast) can be low here during the week. The reception, housekeeping and restaurant staff were all courteous BUT the room was not at all clean. The carpets hadn't been vacuumed properly, the surfaces hadn't been wiped; and there was a dust ball in the wardrobe. Items... more

This is an ideal hotel for stag/hen parties for somewhere to rest a drunken head. Our room was spacious - 2 double beds for me & 1 friend. The decor was shabby without the chic and our ceiling had a large damp patch resulting in a smelly room. The windows didn't open fully nor close completely. The batroom was pokey... more

My main gripe with the Rex is that they serve Breakfast until 9.30 only. That's far too early if you're on a stag weekend. It's not exactly cheap at £105 for a 3 bed room per night and we discovered we could of got a cheaper room further up the main drag. I think the reception staff have to put... more
