Came with the family and the whole process was made easier by all the staff at the hotel. The family room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The hotel was modern and had a an adjacent bar that was call Noir. We had Afternoon Tea in there and the quality was superb, very tasty and great value for money. Our... More

My second stay at The Royal Hotel and I was not let down. The staff from the reception to the house keeping all had a warm smile for me and were very helpful. Different room for me this time but still the same very high standard. Another great big English breakfast to send me on my way. Lovely hotel with... More

Situated right on the sea front, the hotel is quick and easy to find both by car and by public transport. The closest bus stop is about 100 metres away, with regular services to Newcastle centre. The receptionist was friendly and first impressions of the hotel were average for the money, especially bearing in mind that the hotel rates are... More

Right on the sea front, terrific views - if you're in Whitley Bay there's no where more central or offering better value. We paid £65 for the night, including breakfast. The hotel is clean, tidy, warm - friendly staff. Rooms spacious, slept well on a comfortable bed. Bathroom functional (if a little spartan). What more do you need?

Stayed for 2 nights over last weekend. Excellent room, sea view, good location, excellent staff and I mean all of the staff from David on the main desk to the breakfast room staff. Car parking on the forecourt available but if you cannot park on the forecourt there is plenty of parking nearby. Short walk to the shops and pubs... More

We stayed here on a Friday evening, the check was nice enough with a friendly gentleman who carried our case upstairs but that was as far as our service experience went. The £115 a night sea view room was an absolute rip off, beautiful views though but couldn't see it from the bed as the double glazing was rubbish so... More

I have enjoyed afternoon tea at many establishments , however I have to say this was the worst. Shop bought scones, cake and mince pies, although the sandwiches were really nice. The crockery did not match and the first plate brought over was dirty. I understand there are staffing issues, however the customer should not suffer. I have had better food... More
