There were a few vegetarian options here, it was good to have a choice for a change! The option I wanted was not available on that day, which was a disappointment. The food was good anyway, as was the service. The waitress was very nice and did her best to answer all of my questions regarding vegetarian options. The menu... More

We had our wedding reception here, the staff were lovely, very patient and very understanding. the room was fantastic and the food was spot on. In the morning we got down to the spa gym which was totally free for guests and very well presented. A short story; one of our wedding party made a mistake in booking and ended... More

We stopped for a late lunch at the Glen Helen, the service was friendly and efficient, our table overlooked the river with snow still on the ground in drifts, we had battered prawns and beef and ale pie The food was awesome, so much we couldn't finish our plates , a great find and we will be coming back

My family and I have been going to the Glen Helen for their traditional easter sunday dinner and childrens easter egg hunt, and this year was no different, however a little more special as my 3 month old daughter would be with us for her first. Unfortunately our first problem was that when we arrived we had no booking (there... More

OK it's trhe Isle of Man so out of town doesn't mean a 45 minute commute - it's just a few minutes into Douglas or down South to the delights of Port Erin and the Calf of Man. The hotel itself is a small family run hotel with smallish but comfortable rooms and nothing is too much trouble to the... More

We stopped at the Glen Helen Inn for lunch yesterday. It was very quiet - just us in to begin with, although another couple arrived a bit later on. Because it was so quiet there was very little atmosphere, which I accept was down to the lack of trade rather than the venue itself. The young lady waiting on was... More

We went for dinner at the glen helen on saturday. The service was great eventhough they were busy with a function in the back. The food was good value and we particularly enjoyed the atmosphere, all the staff had a smile on their faces which was a rare occurance in the past. We have heard management has changed and it... We ate here twice on a weeks visit to the island, the staff were very helpful and the food was great. We had a small baby with us and on the night we arrived there was an 80th birthday on. They explained there would be a wait for the food but to be honest it arrived promptly. We enjoyed the... More

The breakfast menu actually is indicative of the whole hotel. It covers the basics but misses out by not paying attention to detail. The menu offers such wonders as 'Ceral' and 'Yogart' and has done for the last couple of years, the errors seemingly unspotted for all this time. Same with the hotel. It's in a great location. At the... More

We called in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place has nice decor and plenty of parking and wheel chair access. Pretty view of the river if you choose a window seat. The food was good but the time it took to come out from the order was very slow (over 40mins). In the past its not been so... More
