We stayed in room 212. Located to the rear/side of the hotel. It was very very noisy due to the club/bars in the alley below, especially the empty glass bottles which were continually dumped into the metal skip on the Fri and Sat that we were there (until 1am Fri and 3am Sat) Interior doors banged very loudly due to... more

Booked the hotel for my son and daughter in law as they were comming to the island to visit myself and my husband. The reception was wonderful, we met in amber bar for a meal with my family - food was fantastic as was service. Bedroom was spacious and clean and overall feeling was one of welcoming and home away... more

This hotel is awful, reception staff, (one black-haired lady in particular), were rude and bullied me into paying £64 more than I had pre-paid. She told me her hotel owns lastminute.com, which is a lie. (Thankfully I have now got this refunded after many telephone calls). We had no heating for 2 days and 1 night, the reception staff promised... more

Myself and my girlfriend recently spent two nights here and were both pleasantly surprised by both the facilities and the standard of service. The manager was a very helpful and entertaining gentleman and his staff were accomodating throughout. The proximity to the town centre and the availability of excellent food in the restaurant below are further plus points. Highly recommended. more

Booked the hotel 2 months previously via Last minute.com as a surprise birthday present for my mother. Specifically booked an executive, twin bedded seaview room and paid in advance. On arrival the receptionist was a bit perplexed asking if we had booked two rooms but then handed me the key to a room which I found to be a double bedded... more

We arrived at the Hotel about 10.30 a.m. in the pouring rain and stood at reception for some time, the porter drew the attention of a rather a terse receptionist who informed us that we could not book in until 2.00 p.m. no mention of would you like a cup of tea etc, just that we could leave our cases.... more

There was nobody at reception when we arrived. After several minutes, an unpleasant receptionist arrived from the adjacent office - though she could quite clearly see us waiting for her attention. We arrived at 11.30, and despite the torrential rain, were told we could leave our luggage, but the room would not be available till 2pm. No offer of a... more

Have just returned from a week's stay at the Chesterhouse. The first room we got had the loudest extractor fan in the world outside the window. Some rooms also have thin partitions, so our neighbours could be heard periodically chatting through the night. Complained and got a better room, but that was facing the sea front and Jaks Bar opposite... more
