From the moment I arrived I was shown care, courtesy and friendliness. This included coming to the car to fetch my bags. Every member of staff was friendly. The large room was equipped with a stand-alone shower, and was always fresh and clean. It was very comfortable, albeit a little old-fashioned but in a welcoming way. The breakfast was very... More

A crowd of 8 of us had a lovely dinner here on Sunday night 22nd March. The menu was wide and varied catering to different diets/tastes, the service was brilliant, quick, efficient and friendly. Offered extra bread and our wine/water poured out for us. Nothing too much trouble for the lovely hard working professional staff here. The hotel reception/bar/restaurant areas... More

My husband and I live in the Isle of Man and booked a dinner, bed and breakfast deal for £85 at The Welbeck. Our room was on the top floor (yes, there is a lift) with dual aspect views over Douglas Bay. The room was clean, bright, large and comfortable, it wasn't decorated in a modern style and was maybe... Short stay in the IOM, and we needed a hotel in Douglas and the Welbeck Hotel turned out to be ideal. We were allocated a superior double room on the top floor, and as well as good views of the bay, the room was very comfortable and equipped to a very high standard. The bar was a very relaxing place... More

The hotel is not the most modern but is clean and well appointed. Room was big enough, very comfy bed, sofa and TV. Breakfast was very good. Although the actual hotel was not especially spectacular, what marked it out for me was the excellent and obliging and friendly service. I thoroiughly enjoyed my stay at the WElbeck.

Very nice hotel, had everything you needed including a safe in the room and an empty fridge. My only gripe would be that we were in an attic room and the floor sloped with was rather disconcerting. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order. In fact on balance it was better that the hotel we stayed in on the... More

Thank you for your review and your comments. Having said that I do not respond to every review, here I am on my second in a row. We do not actually have any rooms in our attics. Whilst it is true to say that on the top floor (accessed by lift and the main staircase,) there are visible roof beams,... More

I was the organiser of a 12 person group that stayed at The Welbeck for 4 nights. I know the hotel read their reviews, so thank you to everyone - from cleaning staff to front of house - that made our stay such a pleasure. The rooms were immaculate, many with sea views, and the beds extremely comfortable. The breakfasts,... More

Thank you and thanks also to all our reviewers. As this writer points out, we do read all our reviews but as he also mentions about the service in the restaurant, we don't like to be overbearing, so unless any particular comments are made that I feel must be answered, I tend to let your words do the talking. Therefore,... More

It would be hard to fault the hotel or the staff. I would have to try hard and find niggly faults. I could say that the lift is painfully slow. I could say that the road is a bit steep to walk; but none of that is really fair. The beer in the Bar was good, the food was exceptional,... More

Chose this hotel based on other reviews and were very pleased. Very fast service at breakfast and friendly staff. Room had everything - large screen TV, trouser press, iron and ironing board, proper size kettle and hairdryer, empty fridge instead of the usual one packed with over-priced drinks (!), safe cupboard, more electric sockets than you could ever wish for...
