I was a little concerned when we arrived, the surrounding area is a little tired and to be honest our rooms needed a little tlc but the welcome was fantastic, the staff are friendly and remember everyone's name. The food is good and there is a well stocked bar. The rates are good value. First impressions were wrong; this is... More

A quintessential Victorian ‘seaside hotel’ including on our three night visit, a clientele composed of retirees and single female travellers. The whole hotel was well maintained, clean and bright. Our room (405) on the fourth (and top) floor faced over the promenade and bay. The room was large and wonderfully quiet with the only noise being the slightly irritating hum... More

A pleasant hotel up a short steep street (Mona Drive) half way along the promenade. Access by horse trams or diesel buses every twenty minutes. The horse trams are unique in the British Isles or so far as I know, in Europe. The hotel is comfortable with enormous beds, adequate facilities and decent bathroom having Niagara-type shower. Lift OK,cosy for... More

Booked a discounted room. It was ok but I struggle to see this as number 1. Back from the sea and no view. Room was ok. No aircon so windows for air. TV channel 30 and 32 for cctv! Iron, trouser press, kettle etc all fine. Lift was primitive - never seen anything like it. Stairs not impressive. Breakfast fine.

Thank you for taking the time to review The Welbeck Hotel. As you correctly say, the Hotel is situated slightly behind the Promenade which is certainly quieter than being on the busy road way but we do have rooms from which you can see the sea. What we don't have are any rooms that merely look at brick walls as... More

From arrival to departure, the service was first class.....nothing too much trouble for the staff......room, on the small side, but with comfortable beds and well serviced....meals excellent and not expensive. attention to detail impressive. For our age group (not a karaoke bar in site) service is of prime importance, and this hotel is the best.......

Stayed here with my wife on a business trip for 3 nights. Very well appointed rooms with an extremely comfortable bed and an excellent shower. Digital TV including Sky Sports and free wi-fi. Food in the restaurant was very good value with 3 courses from the daily changing menu for £22 and a full on breakfast. What's not to like?... More

Just returned from a very enjoyable stay we were greeted by Alex who checked us in and left us with a drink in the bar whilst he took our cases to our rooms. That evening we had a meal in the restaurant this was an A'la carte but with an all inclusive special price. There was a choice of 6... More

From the moment I arrived I was shown care, courtesy and friendliness. This included coming to the car to fetch my bags. Every member of staff was friendly. The large room was equipped with a stand-alone shower, and was always fresh and clean. It was very comfortable, albeit a little old-fashioned but in a welcoming way. The breakfast was very... More

A crowd of 8 of us had a lovely dinner here on Sunday night 22nd March. The menu was wide and varied catering to different diets/tastes, the service was brilliant, quick, efficient and friendly. Offered extra bread and our wine/water poured out for us. Nothing too much trouble for the lovely hard working professional staff here. The hotel reception/bar/restaurant areas... More
