Stayed here as part of a coach party, the public rooms are impressive with good sea views, the bedrooms were a bit cramped and mainly at the back of the hotel with dismal views, I suppose the front rooms are reserved for individual travellers who can be charged more. The breakfasts are good, but we had to choose a day... More

Just as we remembered it .... warm friendly atmosphere .... Very clean bright throughout public areas .... Our room had a sea view was very clean only slight problem was lack of drawers none at all???? made unpacking quite difficult and room therefore looked untidy, the bed was huge and very very comfortable. We ate our evening meal in the... More

Following the closure of the Mount Murray Hotel in Santon my meeting and enforced overnight stay was relocated to the Empress, ideally situated on the Central Promenade. I'm there for a meeting, addressing 100 accountants until 7pm so no chance to go back to London afterwards. The staff were very welcoming as I arrived before check-in time and I could... More

We were on holiday on the Isle of Man. Our coach party stayed at this hotel in May for four nights. In general a good place to stay, as right on the sea front and near to the main Douglas shopping area. The room my wife & I had was comfortable although somewhat on the small size. Call it compact.... More

Arrived on Friday, rooms were nice and clean, the Breakfast was a full English as much as you wanted, or continental, A nice Bar with Piano playing in the background, a Health Spa and beauty room, although did not use that lol. Plenty of rooms, on the sea front close to everything. AAAA++++

We stayed mid April for 9 days and our stay was a good one. This is a well placed hotel along the promenade with great views of the comings and goings in Douglas bay (if you have a room with a sea view - and it's worth requesting one). Generally we found the staff helpful, some more than others, however... More

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2015

I recently stayed at the hotel on a business trip. Whilst the hotel itself was adequate at best, the room was small, the food in the resturant for dinner was ok but breakfast was served in the basement restaurant which had the feel of a cafe. The real issue was with the reception staff, the room was booked and secured... More

we flew from blackpool airport on 08/04/15 on citywing airline ( a very friendly, efficient outfit) for a four day break. a 1, 1a or 2 bus takes you from ronaldsway airport and drops you outside the empress on douglas prom for just £2-70. the empress has a great location with a very impressive glass covered entrance and conservatories offering... We had a meal at the Empress one evening. Not the worst we have had and for how much it cost not the best, in fact for a few quid more I would go to Rushen Abbey restaurant every time. However it was some what more upmarket than our first try The HQ. Food was reasonable I had lamb shank... More
