Ok Hotel if your expectations haven't been raised up by all the references to 'Super Deluxe' and Luxury in nearly all sources before booking. Views are great lets be honest, but that alone is what they are dining off. Staff are ok (apart form one who checked us in) but very small rooms, cheap decor (tvs, shower, toilet etc), tired... more

Have just returned home from what the hotel referred to as a four night special offer including ferry dinner bed and breakfast that cost £650. This offer was originally to the end of June but had been extended. I will identify the positives - large room with excellent sea view and clean towels every morning. Now for the negatives if... more

No tea/coffee in the bedroom Damp bedroom with mould spores on the duvet Average breakfast Expensive evening meals BUT excellent receptionist who was helpful and professional. Overall this hotel tries to punch above it's weight with prices that in my opinion do not justify the service delivered. They have not even bothered to reply to my letter of complaint which... more

Good things. Friendly welcoming staff. The view from the terrace overlooking Ventnor beach where we breakfasted. A good cooked breakfast, but fruit juice reconstituted and tasteless, DIY toast, little choice of cereal. Not so good. Super de luxe Room clean but small, just room for the bed, no welcome tray, balcony immediately overlooked in room 19 by two others, you... more

Just got back from Bank Holiday weekend at this really nice hotel. Booked straight away for next B/Hols. Where do you start? Superb room overlooking the ocean, hard working and friendly staff where nothing seems to be too much bother. Great cooked breakfast on the terrace. Clean, tidy and well run establishment, in a nice little part of The Isle... more

We really enjoyed our stay, only stayed for 2 nights over the bank holiday but we're def going to come back! When searching on the internet for somewhere to stay we were shocked at how awful some hotels looked, full of mis-matched furnishings, clutter and chintz. The Wellington is clean, tidy, smart and not a bit of chintz in sight!!... more

We are just back from the Wellington. High spots - great view from our room/balcony; historic creme brule in the restaurant; easy access to the sea front. Low spots - terrible parking and no real help finding alternatives; boring (but nice flavour) breakfast; waiter (manager?) laying tables in jeans and sweat-soaked shirt was not a great moment at one breakfast;... more

This is a relatively small and friendly hotel. We stayed the week before Easter and it was quiet with a minimum number of staff. However they were all very friendly, efficient and polite and did a great job. The bar although rather small was OK and welcoming. The food we would say is the highlight - a good menu of... more
