We recently stayed for three nights at the Bedford and wished we could have stayed for longer. We totally agree with all the positive comments on this site and totally disagree with the one negative one. Oliver, our golden retriever, was made most welcome and loved his stay. Karena and her staff were extremely helpful, friendly and provided an excellent... more

A delightful little B&B in a beautiful part of the Isle of Wight. The B&B is right in the heart of Old Shanklin and near many restaurants & pubs, but tucked away, so you hear no noise from the streets. The rooms are a good size and breakfast is fab plus, free cake is available every day on the bar... more

When we arrived on the Island we were pleased to find that the hotel was within walking distance of the village and the beach. We paid extra to stay in a superior room, which was a good sized room with a comfortable bed. Karena was very friendly as were the waiting staff, nothing was too much trouble. The chickens were... more

My partner, myself and our rather large dog stayed at the Bedford for 2 nights and it was just perfect. We had a room on the ground floor with French doors that led to a little patio area and the gardens. This was very handy as we could walk the dog around the garden before bedtime without having to traipse... more

Stayed at Bedford lodge for a 2 night break in a premier room. Everything was perfect rooms were spotless and decor was unlike other island B & B's very contemporary and modern. Service was excellent very friendly but not overtly OTT. Breakfasts were fautless. Overall I would recommend without hesitation. Our 1st visit since under current owners hopefully will not... more

First Class B & B !... actually to call this wonderful place a B & B is to serve it an injustice !. .. my partner and I have visited Shanklin many times, on our visit last year we stayed at a 4 star hotel, top prices but very poor quality... so to discover Bedford Lodge has been the find... more

Karena & Jody were pleasant enough and we always feel priveleged when we are allowed to take our small dog anywhere and Bedford Lodge was listed as being dog friendly and after an inital email Jody called me and really did sell the weekend to me - so we went and well.......... very disappointed - the room albeit one of... more

We were very sorry to hear that your stay disappointed you. Pebbles was a delightful little Shitzu and we could all see how much you adored her but I’m afraid we did have complaints about her barking at other guests. Easter Weekend is one of the busiest of the year, so she must have been very excited. To avoid this...

My partner and I stayed at the Bedford Lodge this weekend and it really was something special. I booked us into one of the premier rooms and everything seemed clean, fresh and new/modern but without loosing the homely charm that the Lodge's atmosphere has about it. The hosts were wonderful and friendly and really make you feel welcome there. We... more

The Bedford Lodge is one of those rare special places that makes your stay feel as if you are staying with friends that you have known forever and that your stay at a Bed and Breakfast was worth getting away from the cookie cutter chain hotels. The hotel is exceptionally well keep and nicely located within walking distance to the... more

Excellent location, close to shops and nice places to eat. Saffrons and Pendletons can both be recommended for those travelling alone. The B&B is warm and inviting with lots of choice at breakfast. Staff all cheerful. My room was fresh and spotlessly clean. Nice fluffy duvet. The actual building has a nice feel to it too. A bit like staying... more
