Stayed in the Hideaway Cottage with the wife and we really enjoyed our week. The accommodation was very good and the staff extremely obliging. The holiday complex is in a great position opposite the downs and near to Shanklin Old Village, the Chine and cliff top path. The beach is just a short walk away. Visit Rylstone Gardens for great... We've just come back from a weeks stay and found the cottages perfect. We had no problems with the cottage and although the indoor pool was on the chilly side it didn't seem to bother my 7 year old. Although reception isn't manned you are provided with ab emergency phone number! We will book again!

This April was our 12th year at Upper Chine, we stay every Easter with extended family in various cottages and an apartment. This year we enjoyed our stay on the island as much as every other year as there is so much to do and so many wonderful places to eat. ( the black cat Thai restaurant in shanklin is... More

So sorry you were disappointed by the future plans for the Upper Chine grounds. The small playarea and outdoor splashpool were removed early last year, due to age and obvious liabilities of an out of the way facility. This work was carried out before the summer season and was felt that the superb playarea located across the Big Mead Park... More

Upper Chine is clean, comfortable and very well equipped especially if you are travelling with children. We stayed in 'Owls Hoot' and were very impressed with the size of the rooms and convienient location to reception, pool and play area etc. The play area was great for the kids with air hockey, table football. pool table and climbing frame. There was... More

Upper Chine is in a good location close to Shanklin Chine. We have stayed on 3 occasions and the cottages are nice. On all 3 occasions we found that the private balcony/outdoor area that each cottage has was very untidy - rubbish not picked up, slate from the roof on the floor, but seeing as we stayed in October/February it... We didn’t bring a car but found it easy to get here by train & Sea-cat (3hrs door to door from South London). As we had heavy back packs we got a taxi from Shanklin station (£5) but this place is only 15-20 minutes walk away (admittedly up hill). We were in the Badgers Set cottage which is at the... More

Agree with previous comments on the good location of this property - a quick walk to the beach (either via cliff side steps, or steep road/tarmaced path if with pushchair). Also parking along the seafront is reasonable and readily available (off peak) if you can't carry all your beach gear with you. We stayed in the Rabbit's Burrow cottage which... More

Nice apartment in a great location. Just a few minutes walk down to the old village and a 5 to 10 minute walk to the beach. Also opposite a park with a great children's play area. Our little boy also loved splashing around in the pool and playing in the indoor play area. The only down sides are the reception... More

Booked for a week in August, myself, wife and 4 yr old son. Our cottage was named "Owls Hoot". Looking at the website and paying over £800 for the week I expected much better for my money. The cottage was not too bad, however upon arrival there was no one to greet us, we were told that the key was... More
