What a fantastic service, truly lovely people are Mary & Kelly, they go out of their way to please & cater for everything. The rooms are large & bright with a nice terrace going around the outside. Breakfast provides vast choice made to order & everywhere is kept very clean. Friendly hotel in a superb location, very child & baby... More

We stay at the Braemar on Friday night before going to Ventnor for our friends wedding. We arrived friday night and received a friendly welcome. We had a twin room and having read the review previous about room 7 we did notice this had new furniture, the beds were comfortable and breakfast was really nice. We found the owners very... More

On staying here as an over spill from the Holliers at Easter what should have been for 2 nights not a good experience all round, room 7, 1st night arrival of black bugs in our beds loads of them, the proprietor was sorry but it still felt it spoilt our break, would not stay here again.

Unfortunately this is a small problem that all hotels experience as these little fellows are spread by you the travellers. It was easily rectified the following day with the correct professional help. We at The Braemar went a step further and replaced the furniture even though we were advised this was not necessary. We did move you to another room... More

We have just returned from a five night stay at The Braemar, and I must begin by telling you all about the magnificent breakfasts served each day! A lovely choice of eggs - anyway you like them, and haddock and kippers offered as an alternative to "the full English!".I have, over the years found it a rarity to have this wonderful choice in... As a first stay in Shanklin i found The Braemar excellent value, with good breakfast, clean room & fresh towels, and access to sun balcony. The location is near the Old Town, with restaurants, bus stops & access to beach nearby. It has own car park, although i found travel around the Island excellent by busses.

I have just returned from a week long stay at The Braemar with 28 children and 2 other adults and could not fault it. Mary and Kelly were lovely, and provided breakfast lunch and dinner every day for all of us, which was well organised; everyone got exactly what they wanted each day (choice of 2 meals b'fast and dinner... If price is your only concern, then this place might be ok for you, but the Braemar is very second rate. Peeling wallpaper, threadbare carpets, shabby furniture, creaking uncomfortable bed, tiny ensuite, worn towels, small-screen TV, everywhere looks tired. The shower varied dramatically in temperature minute-by-minute dependant on what other demands there were for hot or cold water. The cooked... More

A classic case of the confusion between a 3 star hotel and a 3 star guest house. Your room was redecorated in December 2011 and a new carpet fitted. Your bed was just a few months old. The new TV is a 19 inch and is adequate for a bedroom. We had no brown bread on your first day admittedly... More
