We took two rooms; for ourselves and the children. Both rooms were ensure and clean and tidy, although the twin room had a better shower so we all ended up using that as the shower in the double really wasn't up to much. The building is very pleasant and well looked after, maybe dated decor but that didn't bother us... More

Let down by Booking .com and Melbourne -Ardenlea by overbooking. Sent to St Georges House Hotel Described as 4 star. We had room number1 i think this was servants quarters, It was drab with dirty carpets, outlook was onto overgrown trees, noise from upstairs, sounded like load of elephants running about, parking not to clever. Our view not a hotel but... More

We stayed here for one night. The furnishings were quite old fashioned, but there was free parking out the front, Mick was an excellent host and it was ideally located - about a 5 minute walk to both the town and the beach, which was really nice!

Yes the decor is a little dated, but the important things are all there.............Mick is very welcoming and relaxed which makes you feel so too. Everywhere is very clean and the breakfast is great, with nothing being too much trouble. The location is good for both the cliff top lift and the town, but far enough from the town to... More

My prime reason for visiting Shanklin was to see friends who were appearing at the Shanklin Theatre so I just needed a room there. However, St George's House is ideally placed for the beach, the High Street and the Old Village and the theatre being equidistant from them all. My room, a single, was comfortable with all the facilities you... More

What a fabulous place. From the second we entered we felt at home, with Mick's easy nature and welcoming manner, despite this our first meeting. No airs and graces just good old fashioned comfort and relaxation from the start. Our two rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. The breakfasts were hot and plentiful and we were not jammed in... More

Great location, comfy bed, clean towels, and plenty of hot water what more can you ask for at a bargain price! Breakfast was traditional english, it would of been nice to have locally sourced sausages etc but it was tasty being just supermarket produce! Although a Victorian building the decor was very 80s floral etc felt like I had gone... More

Had a lovely anniversary break at the St George's House last weekend in Shanklin.Spotlessly clean and our bedroom / ensuite nicely laid out with those little extra touches - such as shower cap & flannel - I forgot to pack mine! Lovely brekkie - not exactly freshly cooked as the ping from the microwave could be heard, and we would have... More

We stayed here as a family group and found St George's House to be perfect for location. The decor can only be described as 'quaint' with floral bedding and decor with lots of ornaments and dry/silk flowers everywhere but it's not offensive. The owners were lovely, even taking the time to check in and make sure we were ok as... More

Great place to stay less than 10 minutes walk to the old village, rail and bus stations and beach. I had room 2 a single, small but beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Mick the owner was very helpful and cooked an excellent full english breakfast which was served piping hot. Only negative was the very small shower. I wouldn't hesitate... More
