Stayed here with my wife late March. It was a Classic Britain 2 nights for 1 deal. The hotel itself is an older building, I imagine over 100 years old, and this is reflected a bit in the hotel interior. Nothing bad, just a little olde worlde, and a little faded. All members of staff we met were polite and... More

Good location, short walk to beach, comfortable king sized bed, bath with overhead shower, hospitality tray, nice food, we ate in bar with our dog. reasonable value. Limited parking on site. Could do with a refurb but nothing major wrong.

We booked a couple of days relaxation in Dunbar at this hotel and we couldn't have been better looked after. All the staff were very attentive and helpful, the room spotless and the food of the highest standard. We shall go back.

Stayed overnight on 7th Feb on a special deal for D B&B with a bottle of wine. Room was clean, warm and comfortable as was the bathroom (Rm 12). Fantastic shower! Location was perfect and we managed to get a parking space. Dinner was beautiful. Hubby had chicken and rice soup followed by sea bass and I had pasta followed... More

My husband and I stayed here on night of 2nd January. Booked off internet with no previous recommendation, we were pleasantly surprised with the location. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We also had room 10 which we couldn't fault. It was warm, comfortable and clean. We agree, some of the decor is a little old, but as long as... More

From the outside it looked OK. The menu seemed nice, so we went in. We ordered the chicken kiev, cheeseburger, and vegetable tart. The chicken kiev tasted off, and had no garlic butter. The burger looked and tasted like something you'd expect from a burger van. The vegetable tart was just a piece of goats cheese in a pastry case.... More

We are very sorry to read your review and can only apologise that you did not enjoy your meal with us. I have spoken with the staff members that were on the night that you were in and they are very disappointed that you didn't raise your complaints at the time of having your meal. We would then have been... More

My family travelled to Dunbar to celebrate my sister's ruby wedding anniversary and on recommendation we booked the Royal Mac for an overnight stay. Whilst fairly basic, it was clean and staff friendly however when we returned to the hotel after the party celebration it was absolutely freezing; I mean baltic freezing. On checking out the following morning I mentioned... More

I am so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us, we can only apologise for this. Our heating is supposed to kick back on if the temperature drops however we discovered after that the thermostat had stopped working. Our night porters are able to put the heating on but will have been unaware that you were cold... More

The Royal Mac as it's known locally is gradually being revamped. Xirtet's review has it right - room 10 is enormous and while it will definitely benefit from some improvements it is still a very pleasant room. And so huge the dog lost his ball under the sofa.....(temporarily!) Dinner in the elegant wood-panelled restaurant was very tasty and the scrambled... More
