Booked table for 6 at the last minute and ordered steaks, fish and chips and cray fish and sea bass spaghetti. Everyone enjoyed the food. Service was excellent and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back soon.

Comfortable rooms and good simple food at a good price. Friendly staff without being pompous. The only downside was the lack of parking. Located at the southern end of the main street it is convenient for shopping and other facilities.

We eat at the Hillside at least once a month and never have had reason to complain. The food is well cooked and presented, and served by lovely waiting staff. It makes no difference whether you eat in the bar or the restaurant the service and quality are always first class. Keep up the good work.

Visited the busy restaurant in the Hillside for a Christmas night out. Picked food from the Xmas menu. Probably the best Christmas set menu I've eaten. Lovely selection, well priced. My starter was a crayfish salad, served with a citrus dressing, followed by sea bass with roasted seasonal veg. The meat and veggy options looked gorgeous too. All 3 of... More

We requested a sea view and it was lovely. It was a quiet hotel with a nice view which is what we needed to recover from jet lag. Very centrally located, we walked to John Muirs birthplace and the harbor. We didn't eat in the restaurant so I can't comment on that.
