Arriving on Friday night, we received the warmest welcome possible. The room (number 4) was exactly as we expected, with a nice fluffy bed, a luxurious jaccuzi and terrific views. In the morning, we got an excellent full Scottisch breakfast, including blackpudding and haggis if you feel like it (personally, we didn't bother with the cereals ...). And after a... More

I stopped overnight at the Rocks whilst travelling on business. I booked it purely because Dunbar was a convenient stopover point on a journey I was making however it turned out to be an inspired choice. Everything about my stay was faultless - the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the room was very clean and tidy, the food in... More

My party of mostly seniors always stay overnight on Calcutta Cup day. We are welcomed by Jim the owner with mid morning tea/coffee before our journey into Edinburgh.A restaurant table is reserved for us on our return and we spend time over drinks selecting from the menu. Whatever our choice we are never disappointed - there is a really good... More

This was my first visit with my wife and we were both impressed with the warm cosy "unmodernised" character of the restaurant. So many local restaurants have been spoilt by unnecessary alterations intended to attract the fashion conscious--this rarely works. So with character retained and lovely open fire I tucked in to a delicious chicken pie which filled me up... More

We went for a meal on 9th January and I couldn't be more pleased with the service. Two people had dietary problems, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating in trying to find them something they could eat. Would definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone. They made a special celebration perfect.

I have visited this restaurant a few times and have always been delighted with the food and service. Yesterday was no exception and the staff went that extra mile to make us welcome when we had a long wait for a train. Well done Rocks-we'll be back!

A wonderful warm welcome on arrival was equalled by the comfortable cosy bedroom. The Rocks is a family owned and run business where everyone receives the same feeling that their visit is important. It has a homely atmosphere-not posh and the food is of a high standard using the finest local produce.

My wife and I had lunch at The Rocks today and we were delighted. Very very friendly staff, good atmosphere and excellent food. My wife had the crab salad and I had the haddock, the quality of the food was brilliant. The house wine was good value and the service was quick, we could not fault it. I used to... More
