Best place in East Lothian to eat, food is always lovely and the staff always very friendly. The function room is also useful for larger occasions. Highly recommended with a lovely setting. Locally produced food is on offer and the ribeye steak is a favourite!

I stayed here the night before my wedding and the night of in February 2014. I/we stayed in the honeymoon suite (the one with the jacuzzi bath). The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, the bath was fantastic and the room has a balcony. We had a large family meal in the private room on the first night of... More

We had a party for 20 at The Rocks to celebrate a "significant" birthday. We were offered a private room and were allowed to bring our own fizz with no corkage charges which was a great incentive. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and welcoming and really pulled out all the stops to make sure we could get on... More

Been to the Rocks a couple of times now, with numbers of up to 5. We have always received very friendly and personal service. The take on food is good: pub meets fine dining, with a good spread of vegetarian, fish and meat options. Portions tend to be on the generous side: would, however, recommend more salad/veg to accompany the... More

6 of us had a meal in the Rocks - warm welcome, but incredibly busy and rather cramped. Food was good but not extraordinary, and service was pretty chaotic at times, not to mention rather slow. I suspect they had not really had enough staff on for the number of diners in the restaurant. Overall a positive experience, but for... More

Three of us had dinner at this lovely pub/restaurant/hotel on Monday Oct 21. The restaurant is adjacent to the coast and has a lovely view. The décor is in keeping with the fine Scottish hotels. We arrived at 7.30 PM and the restaurant was already full (I am glad we had made reservations). We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. For starters,... More

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of September as a stop off going North, and a base to explore East Lothian and the Borders. The room was clean and comfortable, though a little tired with mismatched furniture. The plumbing and fan in the en-suite were incredibly noisy and a little more heat in the radiator would have been... More

My wife and I visited The Rocks this week for the first time for a birthday meal. We had an excellent meal. The menu has a great selection and all of our food was delicious. Service was very friendly and attentive and at a relaxed pace. Make sure you save space for a trio of deserts!! The bill was about... More

Stayed here as a couple and I must say the food was fabulous. It was beautiful to look out over the sea. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. We were served efficiently and made to feel very welcome. Good value for money and the rooms are clean and tidy. Only downside I could see was that perhaps the rooms... More

Stayed here for a quick overnight as had a meeeting nearby. I booked last minute so got the last room available, a single. When I arrived there were no staff around, had to wait until someone appeared as there is no obvious reception area or bell. I was given Room 11 and shown the back stairwell to get there as... More
