Fabulous setting very close to the river and just across the road from the church which has 2 glorious stained glass windows by Burn Jones - a member of the Pre- Raphaelites!!! Staff are lovely and the breakfast is good. Unfortunately some of the rooms are a little small.

From the outside this is a fantastic looking hotel. The reception still give that impression. The Lounge and bar area are well appointed. The rooms are clean but there is far too much furniture to allow you to move in room. The shower was also very disappointing. The staff were very good and the food in the restaurant was good... Stayed here recently and was allocated a room with what I believe was a three quarter lenght bed. The room was extremely small, with thefurniture in the too it wa not possible to get past the bed without having to navigate past the furniture. Not a huge problem of your only there for the night as it was comfortable if... More

Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the food in our Brasserie and trust you will return for more in the future. We acknowledge that some of our rooms are compact but can confirm that all the beds in the hotel are the same 6ft length which is standard. When you return please ask for one... More

Second time staying here in one of the big rooms...and it was big. Lots of space, huge bed and big bathroom with corner bath. Always welcoming but I was very disappointed that there was not a blazing fire in the fire place...there was one before in summer, but not now in December!!! However, there were only two rooms booked. No... More

Thank you very much for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in one of our large rooms. Sometimes we cannot light the fire, even in winter as we have problems with smoke in the lounge if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction. It is disappointing when this is the case as it definitely adds... More

Just okay. My room was very basically furnished and small and it was very difficult to move through the gap between my bed and the cupboard to draw the curtains. But the room was clean and the bathroom facilities were fine. Breakfast on day one was truly awful with the food lukewarm as was the flask of tea. Breakfast on... More

I stayed in a double room for one night whilst in the area on business. It was not a cheap hotel, though I have had better service in cheaper hotels!! When I arrived just after 7pm I was told there was no Chef and if I wanted to eat I would need to go into Haddington. The room was basic... More

Thank you for your review. We were shocked to hear that you thought we never had a chef. Our Brasserie is closed on a Sunday evening and all day Monday in the winter months. This seasonal adjustment is detailed on-line on all booking sites, to save guests from disappointment when they arrive. Your review sparked conversation about how to deal... More

A pleasant old house which shows its age in places yet the management have done a good job in making the public areas welcoming and enjoyable .Another welcoming aspect was the staff and their attitude which contributed greatly to a pleasant experience .We ate in the evening in the hotel and noted that head chef was the owner .The menu... This hotel seemed a bargain, 60 pounds The place is nice, great lounge and they lit the fire. Breakfast was fine The room was very small, impossible to open the bathroom door without banging into beds. Not enough towels It was average room, but nice place The staff seemed helpful Great village of Haddington
