We just returned from a three day family holiday at the Maitlandfiled and a great time was had by all. We had family members aged 3 to 97 and the hotel was perfect for all. It's small and very relaxed. When anything out of the ordinary is requested, due to the fact that its a family run business and not... More

I was at this hotel for the saltire festival,we went for something to eat the member of staff didn't know anything about customer service, she never smiled aAand we had to get our own cutlery and condiments. We all ordered food at the same time everybody had nearly finished theirs when I had to ask where mine was. Nobody came and... More

With family living in a nearby village we have been visitors to this hotel for coffee or for Sunday lunch for over twenty years. We visited again this weekend and our meal was the best we have had. We all selected the Roast Sirloin of Beef accompanied by Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and roast parsnips, green beans, celery and swede... More

The hotel looks good as you pull into the gates and the brasserie and grounds may be a nice place for lunch on a sunny summer Sunday. But staying there in mid November is a different matter. The wallpaper and decor in the corridors and small room is dated; my bathroom had no form of heating and was frigid in... More

As a seasoned contributor, Hilton Honors member, Mercure/Millennium member and Quality Assurance professional, I always try to stay rational in my comments regarding places that I have stayed. However, this hotel will test my restraint to the limit but here goes anyway. Oh and I always like to start with the positives but luckily, for the sake of brevity, there... More

Arrived late on a Sunday and I was only one of 2 guests staying and I know why. Rooms were freezing, dated, dusty peeling paint and cobwebs. Was told I had a king size bed but was 2 single pushed together. Duvet cover didn't fit and the TV didn't work. Creaky noisy hotel. In the morning went down for breakfast... More

Stayed recently for a course, found the hotel to be dated, service was slow and drinks were overpriced. The room was very small but as I was only one person this was adequate. I felt some of the staff were just not interested in their job and spent the time chatting with colleagues or on their mobile phones. Went to... More

Visited for a murder mystery overnight stay with a hen party and had a terrific time. The hotel is lovely and spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms may have been small as previously stated but they were comfortable smart and had everything needed for an overnight stay. The... More

Easy to find near the centre of town with plenty of parking. Friendly check in. Room was small as people state and I did think too small for me. However I did get used to it. Bathroom was like a small ensuite. I would if I stay again book a superior room. Hotel bar is nice and staff friendly. I... More
