Just back from a weekend at this venue. we were there with a group of around 50 people for a social event. The location in the centre of Durham near the castle and the cathedral is excellent and it is very convenient for shops and restaurants etc. As I say, we were there with a group and the catering was... I've stayed at Hatfield College twice, while at a conference in Durham university. I've been given the same room each time. A very large, comfortable room, with a huge bed, and basic facilities - tv, tea and coffee, hairdryer etc. I haven't needed anything else. Basically a post-war student halls of residence opened up to the public outside term time. There may be some more characterful rooms in older parts of the college - I don't know if these are bookable or not - but the one I was in was a basic institutional room with bed, wardrobe, a threadbare chair and not much else.... Just spent a night with husband and two grandsons in Hatfield College, part of Durham University. The College is in the heart of ancient Durham, very close to the Castle and Cathedral - and has its own parking! The College is usually used for conferences in the summer vacation, but does a good trade in bed and breakfast in the... More
