Lovely staff. Beautifully restored house. Huge room. Good location. Found the short cuts via footpaths and allotments to the river. I agree the coffee could be nicer, but the breakfast was delicious.

The hotel is on a quiet road within ten minutes walk of the city centre, down the hill. Staff were welcoming, and the room was well sized. We paid £74 including breakfast for a twin-bedded superior room, which felt about right - breakfast was good though the coffee not piping hot. The room and facilities are not the "four star...

Very nice hotel--well-run and nicely-maintained. The location was quite good (less than a 10 minute walk to the town center) as was the breakfast, with the exception of terrible, I assume instant coffee that was not worthy of this nice place. Would definitely stay here again but choose the tea next time :)
A pleasant stay in this Guest House with friendly staff and good food.
Farnley Tower is in a quiet, leafy, residential area of Durham but only a few minutes' walk from the city and the railway station. However, be aware that the hotel is perched on a hill and the walk to it is quite a climb. The building has great charm and the reception is simply an old desk in the main...

A short stop over to view the university and Cathedral with my wife and eldest son was the object of our visit. A very pleasant young man allowed us to check in at 12 ,even though I was only wanting to let him know I was leaving my Car in the car park. No fuss no drama. Gave us some...

The Farnley Tower is in our opinion not a four star Hotel, possibly a posh B&B at best. The room was a good size but over looked by neighbouring properties, especially when there was no blind at the bathroom window, which although was frosted still left an obviously naked silhouette at night. Everything creaked, the bed, the floorboards, the elephant...

I booked here for the location and the review in the 2010 Michelin guide . The house looks impressive with an interesting entrance hall with an efficient registering process. On first impressions the large room had a good view and looked coordinated but on closer viewing it was getting tired and in my opinion was ready for decoration. The shower...

A pleasant appearance with welcoming and friendly staff. Room and bathroom was clean with the exception of the carpet which was in need of a deep clean. Great breakfast served quickly despite all the tables being full. The absolute standout however is the GSpot restaurant which is exceptional!
A smart location with a welcoming exterior. Impressive entrance and pleasant staff who were very helpful so much so that you could easily be persuaded to overlook the bits that could possibly be improved.
The room was clean and reasonably comfortable but in need of a makeover. The shortage of little luxuries in terms of toiletries and the tea tray...
