We had a pleasant couple of nights at the Kingslodge Hotel. This proved to be in an excellent location for visiting Durham on foot and was only a few minutes’ walk from the railway station. All Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Check-in and departure were trouble-free (we had booked and paid in advance), and advice was given willingly regarding... More

From reason other reviews I have to say I was slightly disappointed with our stay at Kingslodge Hotel. On arrival the receptionist was efficient but not very warm/friendly. The room was small but contained all basics required. The bathroom was clean but there was a hint of kitchen/cooking smell. We could hear the fans from the kitchen and our window... More

Enjoyed a very pleasant 3 night stay at the Kingslodge. The room was clean and spacious and serviced everyday. A minor fault with the television was soon rectified and enjoyed the breakfast served in the restaurant at pristine white cloth covered tables. The choice and selection of breakfast items was excellent and the staff were all friendly. Location ideally placed... More

I stayed one night. On booking, I was told the cost for a single room was usually £80, but since it was graduation week, the cost would be £100! I stayed in room 17, which was smallish (not tiny) and dark, with trees overhanging the single window. The shower cubicle was starting to go mouldy and clearly had not been... More

Management response:

In response to Tom M's coments, it is normal for all hotels to "up" their prices during graduation week. This happens right accross the country. Room 17 is a single room and we have never had a complaint against this room as it is well appointed and nicely decorated. It does have trees outside the window which is part of... More

My family stayed in this lovely, charming B&B From 11-13 June (2 nights). We came down from Newcastle via rail, a short 20 or so minutes ride and landed at Durham station. From there it was a 10-15 min walk to Kings Lodge - yup my wife & I, and the two children, dragged our luggage from the rail station... More

We called in the afternoon and managed to get two single rooms for 55 pounds each including breakfast. The rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. They had free Wifi. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had trouble getting to the hotel due to a parade and the man at the desk was very helpful. The woman... More

We spent a wonderful night at the Kingslodge Hotel. The setting is beautiful and the place is charming! You feel like you are hundreds of miles out of the city.....and it is just a short walk to where everything is happening! Loved it! We stayed on an unusual warm day and night, and there is no air conditioning....but the open... More

Stayed here overnight on Friday 8th June on a weekend break in the area. The hotel is located within a short walking distance of the city centre and there is ample parking. It appeared to have pleasant gardens but it was raining so hard when we arrived we weren't able to enjoy the hotel outdoors. Were allocated room no 13... More

I spent a weekend here with friends who hadn't been to Durham before. Time was precious so we wanted somewhere within walking distance of the historic city centre, which this is. It seems efficiently run and there were no problems with either of our rooms. The rooms overlooked the hotel's car park, not the best of views, but that wasn't... More
