Living mostly in Greece now, The Kings Head afforded us a step back to the traditional village pub/hotel as we remembered it. We had a very comfortable and spacious room overlooking the village green and both the bar and restaurant offered great value for money. We enjoyed the location as we were able to explore the unique village of Lanchester,... More

Pleasant surroundings, village location. Nice pub feel. Food superb - both breakfast and dinner. Excellent quality food and value for money. Service good. Staff friendly. Room satisfactory but nothing outstanding. En-suite only just about adequate. VERY small - loo, tiny basin and shower squeezed in but towel rail outside in bedroom!!!! Also rather tired looking - needed painting, new sealant,... More

I have visited the King's Head over many, many years for meals and have mostly been pleased with the quality of the food until last week when I was served an unwashed and partly decomposing salad. The food looked very good and the rest of it really was tasty but under the salad leaves was some very squishy dark green,... More

We regard the 'King's Head' as our local, and in several years, we have never been presented with a disappointing meal here.Sunday lunch is excellent value- the Tapas Evenings offer a wide range of delicious choices, and the frequent 'Special Theme Nights' are always popular and offer different experiences of dining. The food is always very good, the atmosphere is... More

We were told to try out the pub as we were not staying far from it, we both were very glad we did, not only is the food & drinks exceptionally good, the price is too, also the staff are very friendly & make you feel very welcome.

We recently stayed here for one night. The place is very clean and the staff were very welcoming. The room is typical pub accommodation, clean and basic. There was plenty of tea and coffee available. We decided to eat in the pub for an evening meal. The food choice was excellent and we were not disappointed with the quality or... More

Just recently visited this hotel for lunch whilst visiting family in Lanchester, and what a very pleasant surprise. The pub was very busy ,which spoke volumes, and what an extensive menu! It took about 15 minutes to decide what to have,I have never seen such a huge variety of choices available. We were served by a girl called Ellie who was so obliging, and... More

The Kings Head Hotel sits at the bottom of the attractive village of Lanchester. It is nicer to look at from the outside than the inside. The give away is the ‘chalk pen’ signs all over the place, proclaiming prophetic witticisms such as ‘If you hear the smoke alarm, dinners ready!’ – Hmmm. The bar area has a number of... More
