Stayed at the hotel as a group of friends at a reunion. Efficient check in, very pleasant room in Riverside block, albeit overlooking car park! Bar in room locked so couldn't keep drinks cool which for time of year was ok! Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, food replaced before dishes empty, plenty of fresh fruit and plenty of space.... More

My wife and i stayed as part of a group for a 2 night weekend on half board. First evening meal poor and learnt that the house wine both white and red probably the most expensive cheap wine I have ever add, almost undrinkable. Second nights meal was certainly better and so was the wine as we chose from the... More

Excellent one-night stay again. Staff very helpful throughout. Comfortable room. Good-sized swimming pool with steam room and sauna. Very good location right in the centre of town, convenient for the Cathedral and University. Not unexpected Saturday night noise from town!

I so wanted here to be nice but unfortunately there were just too many little things wrong to make me change my mind. We have stayed in many Marriott hotels and my husband stays in them every week for work. Firstly the good points: When we checked in, Claire on the reception was lovely. So friendly and welcoming. She asked... More

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I was sorry to read that you felt the hotel entrance was not very accessible and I will consider your feedback regarding the sign from the Starbucks entrance when we review the hotel signage. It was disappointing that the layout of the Restaurant and Bar was not to your taste... More

I stopped here in August for my birthday weekend with my girlfriend. The price was reasonable. The room was big for a Marriott room which was a plus - It included a shower and a bath with another shower, two sinks and a massive bed. When booking, my girlfriend informed the hotel that this booking was for my birthday and... More

This hotel is in a good location which is what you are paying for. The check in took a long time even though a member of staff was standing around doing nothing. Our room was in a separate building near the river; I understand why we were given this room as there was a large wedding on and the main... More

The pool area is very dirty the changing rooms are smelly and dirty. The water is the plunge pool is dirty. Staff are mostly sat behind a desk messing on computer or using mobile phones. Staff are frequently asked to clean the smelly steam room or other areas. A good deep clean is required

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Here in the Durham Marriott Leisure Club we operate a thorough daily cleaning programme covering all areas of the pool, gym and changing areas. The sauna and steam room are cleaned each evening and the plunge pool is emptied and re-filled twice a day, so I am very disappointed that... More

Booked a twin room for an overnight stay with my daughter to visit the university. On arrival we were greeted by warm friendly faces, checked in with ease and went to our room. The room was spacious with 2 double beds, very clean. Breakfast was what you would expect, and is perfectly adequate. I would happily stay here again.

Stayed at this Marriott in Durham for business. Room is spacious but layout of the hotel is unusual, they have an extension in a different block and its quite a maze to get to the reception and restaurant area if you are not familiar with corridors and stairs to navigate. No free newspaper unlike other Marriott I have stayed in.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I agree that the layout of the hotel is unusual and we are reviewing signage around the building to assist our guests experience. Whilst I cannot speak for other Marriott Hotels, unfortunately we no longer provide complimentary newspapers here at Durham Marriott and I apologise for any disappointment. Thanks again... More
