We travelled to Durham to celebrate a fortieth birthday of a family member. I prebooked the restuarant for 7 family members. Our room was fabulous, four poster bed and jaccuzzi bath. We received a warm welcome and various changes to our booking were carried out no trouble. (our numbers increased to 9 for dinner) Our meal was booked for 7.30pm... more

I was really disappointed with this hotel on a number of counts. I upgraded from a standard room and I wish I hadn't bothered. The jacuzzi was noisy, the room was really musty and my clothes in my bag now stink of the room. The dressing gowns had stains on them. Very poor more

We found Ramside Hall through a lastminute.com deal on the internet, and at £49 is proved not only a great deal but a great night. This is not a modern flashy hotel ... we feel as though we'd gone back many years, but the dated decor make for a charming stay. Our room, which room overlooked the golf course, was... more

We live local, but had heard good reports about the New Dining experience, We booked a room at £49.00 !!!! for a Sunday and had the most fantastic meal in the Rib Room, the steak was the best ever, the presentation was exceptional and the service good. Our room was large( and this was a superior which apparently is a... more

I can't understand why this hotel has so many negative reviews. My husband and I stayed for 1 night so we could have a night out in Durham. The hotel is beautifully furnished. Our room was spacious and clean with a huge bed. The hotel had a lot of staff and must admit very friendly and polite. We booked breakfast... more

Booked this hotel for a golf trip with my Dad. We paid £69pp for db&b and 2 rounds of golf on a Sunday Evening. If you are going for the golf this is outstanding value (a round of golf alone here is £30+) - and the course is very good. The hotel itself is large, with very spacious clean rooms... more

I did not book this hotel myself, it was booked for me. If I had read the reviews beforehand, I think I would have asked to go elsewhere but ... If I had gone elsewhere I would have missed out on a great hotel. It is clear that the hotel is putting a lot of effort into cleaning, modernising and... more

We recently stayed at the Ramside Hotel to attend a charity function and I am sorry to report, we will not be returning there again. Upon arrival, we were impressed with the entrance to the hotel and the surrounding gardens. The bedroom was attractive, well furnished and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately, our positive experience was short lived. The following morning,... more

Having decided to show four of our Lancashire friends our native North East we opted for the Ramside. Most other hotels were booked for a Saturday night and we had previously stayed here. but reviews seemed to be terrible. We paid £160 per room for dinner bed and breakfast. When we arrived we were quickly allocated our rooms and all... more

Visited the hotel a couple of weekends back for a wedding. The place is dismal. The fucntion room was in desperate need to be redecorated, and the carpets thread=bare in places. The food was bland and cold. The staff had a 'I couldn't give a toss' aire about them, and for receptionists seemed so far above themselves. I had course... more
