Heating in my room couldn't be controlled other than by asking bar staff to switch the system off altogether. Windows could only be opened by using a wedge, one window didn't lock. Noise levels were poor due to my room being on a busy road without double glazing and poor soundproofing between rooms. Bed, duvet and pillows had seen better... More

Loved the atmosphere in the pub but the restaurant was disappointing. The food was mediocre, I had fish and chips my husband had ham egg and chips and considering the price we paid and the photos on their website, we were expecting better. Our room was nice but the noise from the plumbing was audible whenever anyone in adjoining rooms... More

1 night stay: great bar and very friendly staff. Love the cozy feel (helped by real open fire) and decor of the place. Room clean and comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities. Expect a cooked breakfast rather than continental for £85 per night. The only disappointing part of our stay.

Very nice hotel situated on top of a steep hill although it is only a 6 minute walk to the edge of the city and a steady 8 minute walk back up . Good hard working staff and the food looked very good and reasonably priced . We were booked for a 1 night stay in the family room which... More

Just returned from a two night stay - what a refreshing experience. The room was very comfy, breakfast was just right, lovely coffee. It was very nice to have good customer service -Tom behind the bar was a star. The owner was a nice guy, very genuine. Had a good meal in the bar. Good atmosphere - very popular .... More

We stayed for two nights in Feb 2015 & had a great stay, we had a family room that was light & airy. The room was well stocked with tea, coffee & bottled water & lovely big Egyptian towels & large bathroom the shower was a bit temperamental & the bath could maybe do with replacing. The hotel is about... More

the room was fine, the food was ok but not great. However, the staff had an all night party on the second night. When we complained to management after the stay (they were on holiday whilst we were there) they were polite and promised a lot - nothing of which was ever followed up. Eventually they just stopped talking to... More

Roast dinner good. Vegetarian option poor for the price. Sticky toffee pudding recommended. No children's menu offered. Adult menu given for all of us yet when tried to order pudding off this for a child we were told they didn't do that one for children! Then were charged £4 for a very small child's pudding? The girls also messed up... More

Nice friendly inn. Not to expensive, quite close to the city centre. Has private parking. The rooms were simple, cozy and the beds were very comfortable. Everything was nice and clean and smelt nice even though you were staying above the pub. Breakfast was ok, nothing to write home about and they didn't do cooked breakfasts.
