I booked the hotel as a surprise for my wife as it was our 10th wedding anniversary and it was a superb weekend. I chose the hotel because it looked different from the normal type of hotel rooms that we could have stayed in at your chain hotel. We stayed in the Library and it was nice and cosy with... more

Ok how do I start, no free parking at the hotel so it costs 40p for 30 minutes outside on parking meters which if your there for 4 days can be expensive. I thought the staffs were great and we could in no way fault them. The rooms are amazing and worth every penny we paid, we stayed in Cruella... more

We stayed in one of the themed rooms of this b&b/hotel; it was very disappointing and overall a bit of a tacky experience. Not the funky experience we were expecting, pricey and a long wait for breakfast. There must be better offerings in Durham? Parking a pain- on street and metered. more

Just returned home with my civil partner and we've had a thoroughly wonderful time.Stayed 2 nights in the Sci-Fi room which had the added luxury of an outdoor hot tub.Everything was clean and modern and the bathroom was entered through Tardis doors. We were shown round the other rooms which were all amazing in their different ways. The staff were all... more

Had to stay in Durham as daughter looking at university and this seemed to be a bit different to the places we would normally stay. We arrived early and had a slightly indifferent welcome but at least the receptionist took our bags for us while we went out. We stayed in The Library Room on the ground floor - all... more

The hotel is convenient for the Cathedral, the Castle, the river, the old bridges. The service was excellent. The on-street parking is easy enough and the location safe, we found parking places to be readily available. We stayed in the Cruella room for three nights. This is a fantastic room, very spacious, the bathroom/shower-room/sauna-room is also very spacious. This is... more

I stayed for one night recently in the New York room and experienced the following: * on the plus side the Receptionist was friendly and welcoming and did her best to help when we encountered problems. * to reach the room, you have to walk past a metal cage full of housekeeping tools, spare loo rolls and cleaning fluids &... more
