We were passing through Durham visiting a friend and only chose this place based on it being very close to where they lived - it's a bit out of town, but nothing a taxi can't handle. The staff were professional and helpful and there's no getting away from the fact this is a pub with rooms, so maybe not for... More

Local pub with an attached annex of rooms. The rooms were outdated, cleanliness was in question. However, the bar area was fine, good selection, food was ok, service was great though. The back patio area needs some work, not as advertised in previous photos. I would not recommend this for a b&b stay, however for drinks and watching a match... More

During our three night stay at the Premier Inn just down the road, we decided to eat here on our first night. First impression from outside - looked ok. Stepped inside - locals all turned round to see who was coming in - bit off-putting Dining room only had three tables occupied prior to the three of us coming in,... More

I spent just one night in Lambdon Hounds Inn but it was a very pleasant stay. Single room I booked was the cheapest I could find in the whole area (38 pounds) and I was surprised by how cosy it felt. There was a bathtub, very much appreciated as I could take a long bath after walking all day.The pub... More

I thought there would have been a few more reviews on this pub as we couldn't get booked in for Sunday lunch for 2 weeks! We decided to try this place as I used to work locally, so bought their offer of 3 course Sunday lunch on Living Social. On arrival the car park at the back was busy which... More

Have just come back from a 2 night stay here. Was a little apprehensive on arrival because it doesn't look much on the outside. However there is a large car park at t he back. we received a good welcome. We had a family room which was large, clean and comfortable. There were plenty of pillows, a decent though small... More

Having parked the car I walked into a lovely warm Bar where the bar maid welcomed me with a big smile, I asked if rooms where available, The Land Lady gave me the double at the price... More

My wife and I had family business in the area and decided to spend a couple of days in Durham where we hadn't been before. The cost was the reason for booking but we had quite accidentally found accommodation that we would most certainly book again. The two evenings we spent in the bar enjoying some beautiful local ales with... More
