We were pleased when we pulled in as the hotel looked welcoming and friendly, we had an annex room off the car park which was perfect as we had our dog with us! The room was basic but clean and provided all we needed for our stay The restaurant was reasonable but very hit and miss with service, night one... more

I thought this place worked with what it had and made the best of it. The room was obviously a bit dated but clean and acceptable for our needs. The bathroom was suffering a tiny bit from peeling but nothing drastic. The shower was very powerful and nice. I got this hotel on an offer so was more than acceptable... more

The room was passed its best. It seems to have recently had a new larger double bed but the rest of the room needs to be brought up to standard. Staff come across as inexperienced and untidy, they look like they had slept in their clothes. Service in reception and restarant very slow. Food itself was good, it was the... more

We stayed for 3 nights @ £9 pppn (partner found a special offer). We would of been gutted if this had been full price!! I think we must have had same room as reviewer BETTY084. Bad points first: Very dark, dingy, stank of damp, squashed spiders (obvioulsy still there from when BETTY084 stayed), lots of mould - which had been... more

We booked a weekend at this hotel as a nice gettaway and only stayed an hour. The room we was given in the annexe was dark and dingy, the bedding was clean enough but on further inspection of the room, it was full of mould, damp, and squashed spiders on the walls, the dust behind the bedside cabinets was so thick... more

stayed Saturday and Sunday night with husband in upstairs room in annexe. Thought the room [upstairs in annexe] was clean and very comfortable. We had breakfast on both mornings and a carvery meal on the Sunday evening. Enjoyed a little walk around every morning after breakfast and although the flower beds had finished the grounds were kept tidy. Can't fault... more

My husband and I have just returned from a seven night break at the Cedars Inn. We have stayed here several times before as we have relatives in the area. It has improved under Village Inns ownership and the price has gone down. The staff are friendly and any requests are accommodated. One couple decided to extend their stay, whilst... more

The Cedars looks very attractive when you first pull up, but I'm afraid that the place is a little shabby. If you are given a ground-floor room and can manage stairs ask to be moved upstairs. Our ground-floor room was very dark and dingy and we had to have the light on all the time. The flooboards above us creaked... more

My wife and I had a 4 day mid week break at the Cedars on a B&B basis. The room was very large ( if a little dark) with an extra large 6 foot double bed. Buffet breakfast was more than adequate with a good selection of cereal, fruit and hot food. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Most evenings... more
