Booked a last minute two night deal (Friday and Saturday) on the internet at £45 per person per night for bed, breakfast and evening meal. Double room overlooking the outside pool was fine, with comfortable double bed and modern functional bathroom with quick filling bath and good shower above bath. Good size indoor and outdoor pools and fitness facilities. Bar... more

I went with a friend to a wedding and stayed for one night. On arrival the outside off the hotel doesn`t look very appealling, especially with it being on an industrial estate. However once we were inside I was pleasantly suprised. The wedding reception was most enjoyable, the room well layed out and the food was very good. Staff were... more

Stayed at the Barnstaple Hotel last month, a 2 night stay paying £40 per person for dinner bed & breakfast. The hotel is situated outside of Barnstaple on the road leading to the coast - Saunton & Croyde are only short car trips away. The hotel rooms are motel style but are clean, spacious enough & well furnished. The usual... more

Comfortable room on first floor overlooking outdoor pool. Warm indoor pool and well-equipped cardio exercise room. Staff friendly and genuinely wanting to please. First-class evening meal and breakfast with lychees and figs. An excellent hotel and I will be staying there again. Would definitely recommend it. more

I recently spend 6 nights at this hotel and am happy to report that my overall experience was a positive one. Firstly, the obvious, the hotel is situated at the junction of two major roads so as others have pointed out, there is some road noise but the noise abates at night. I found the light pollution much worse as... more

Having completed the Tarka trail late in the afternoon, we just wanted a comfy bed for the night. The Barnstaple Hotel provided this with massive 6 ft double with crisp white cotton sheets. The sauna and swimming pool made this a very enjoyable stop and the buffet breakfast was most welcome. Staff were very friendly and I couldn't fault our... more

HHHHmmmmmm. My partner and I have just spent two nights at 'the Barnstaple' - having travelled to the area for a friends wedding. I have to say that ALL staff without question were friendly and cheerful and the hotel ( ex Motel ) is spotlessly clean, modern in most areas and very pleasant. However, our booking confirmation on the internet... more

I stayed at The Barnstaple Hotel for one night during July, whislt travelling in the area on business. Let's make something clear - this is not the prettiest hotel in the world and it doesn't have much in the way of character (I think it used to be a motel). However it does tick some important boxes. For example: -... more

I've made several stays at the Barnstaple Hotel and am about to book another. There is no other property close by for someone on foot, and I can be at the local plant in under 10 minutes. There's nothing sexy about the place. Yes, it's a half step up from a motel and yes, it needs redecoration to join the... more

Crossroads meets Hi-di-hi. Very 1970s, in need of updating and on the edge of a dual carriageway next to a bowling alley (having said that friendly staff and a decent breakfast). BUT the bigger question is why on earth would you want to stay in Barnstaple? don't be fooled into thinking this is an idyllic Devon town. It's truly one... more

Thankyou for your review on our hotel, I would like to point out that there are hundreds of people who think differently about Barnstaple, having lived here for 27 years I thoroughly enjoy it myself, but it is not to suit everyone, like most places in the world. I would also like to add that we are having a major...
