This is a great hotel for business trips, short breaks or a longer stay . We were really impressed by the staff who really seemed interested in ensuring that we were happy and comfortable, and were very knowledgeable about the local area. The food was excellent and again was served by friendly staff who were happy to meet all our... more

I recently stayed at The Imperial for three days.It is centrally situated in Barnstaple town centre and the train and bus stations are just a short walk away. The hotel is nicely decorated and my room was clean and satisfactory. The food was good with a varied choice although there could have been a better selection of fresh fruit at... more

The Imperial Hotel which is in Barnstaple/Devon was sheer delight. It is one of the Brend Hotels and it is obvious they know how to please the public. The hotel itself was the epitomy of what one wants an English Hotel to be. Old world charm, lovely decor, big rooms, lounges, bar... The food was superb, the staff friendly and... more

My mother and I headed for the Imperial during the gale force winds that hit the South West at the beginning of March. We spent 2 nights bissected by a couple of nights when mother chilled with buddies and I wrestled with work in Somerset. We paid for a State Room (Twin) overlooking the Taw with dinner and handed over... more

We recently took friends to see this wonderful hotel that we had discovered by chance a few years ago. They loved it. We look forward to going back there later this year. Beautifully clean everywhere and food fantastic. Staff extremely polite, and helpful. Would recommend 100%. Would suit anyone wanting a peaceful break. more

My parents are regular visitors to this hotel & this weekend my boyfriend & I joined them for a 2 night break. Our room was a deluxe room overlooking the river. Room & bathroom were very large but the decor was a little dated so probably time for a bit of an overhaul. All public areas of the hotel were... more

My partner and I stay at this hotel approximately 6 to 8 times a year, and not once has the overall experience deteriorated in the five or six years that we have been coming here. The staff are well mannered, well groomed and always eager to please. Obviously, as we stay there so often, we do tend to get just... more

It's very rare for me to find a hotel where I can't pick fault with anything but this hotel has almost managed that. I stayed for one night only purely for leisure. My only gripes were that the single room had a single bed(!) as is common in most British older style hotels and the "hand carved" roast beef at... more

Just returned home after four nights stay at The Imperial, what a gem. Staff could not do enough for you, nothing was any trouble. Some of the lights did not work in our bedroom, telephoned reception and a member of staff rectified the fault immediately (within 5 minutes). We booked on a last minute deal, so we did not get... more

I visited this hotel on business for one night and found the experience to be very pleasant. Make no mistake this hotel is not aimed at the young lager swilling party animal. It has a very genteel and dignified aura. Dress code is formal in the dining room, shirt, tie and jacket is preferred. If you are looking for a... more
