What a lovely B and B! From the delicious welcoming home baked cake to the generous extension to our check out time because of the rain, our hosts were indeed wonderful. The recently refurbished room had the most comfortable bath we've ever wallowed in, perfect for us after a long wet walk. The king size bed was very comfy and... More

Thank you so much. We’re glad you appreciated the new bath in Room 1 and that it served you well at the end of your walk all the way from Castle Cary on the Macmillan Way. Hopefully it made up for the only wet day! All the best for your next adventure. More

We couldn't fault this lovely B&B. Everything detail had been thought of and lovingly attended to, from the home-made cakes on offer each day to the beautiful 'boutique' rooms with crisp white bed linen and even the lovely garden. We stayed in the family suite on the top floor and it was just perfect, with a twin room & very... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We’re really pleased you enjoyed the family suite and it had everything you needed. We were a family of 5 and when planning the suite we thought about what we would have liked after having spent many a night in cramped family rooms. More

My wife & I stayed 3nights whilst visiting relatives in the area. Sandi & Bryan are great hosts & made a memorable stay with their generous hospitality & attention. The accommodation was very clean & comfortable & breakfasts were excellent. We loved Sandi's home baked cakes for tea. The location is ideal for a short walk to the town &... More

What a find. We could not fault this b&b. Although it is in the middle of Barnstaple, once in the house and gardens it is as if you are out in the countryside. Fabulous hosts, so friendly and helpful. We were given home made cake each day of our stay and fresh milk in a flask to use for tea.... More

We feel so lucky with our location Gaynor, we had wanted a country B&B but now have the best of both worlds, which does make our job that little bit easier. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review, we will look forward to seeing you again in the future when hopefully we will have made... More

I recently stayed at the Old Vicarage and was immensely impressed. Sandi and Bryan are the perfect hosts, who really look after their guests; conversationally, they are both highly engaging and entertaining, and also most helpful and accommodating, offering their expert advice of the local restaurants and pubs. We were offered slices of cake on arrival, and the room had... More

We’re pleased you enjoyed your stay here and thank you for writing the review. Bryan’s father has tried most of the churches when he visits and says that they are all very welcoming. The closest, Holy Trinity, is a superb building built at about the same time as The Old Vicarage (or the New Vicarage back in the 19th century),... More

If you are looking for hosts who will cook your egg to the second that you request. who lend you an umbrella when it looks like rain. and who dry your shoes when it does. you have found the right place! This was our second visit. and it was just as perfect as the first.........but that's because there was nothing... More

On a recent visit to Barnstaple to visit relatives my wife and I stayed at The Old Vicarage for six nights. There simply are not enough superlatives to describe the whole experience. The rooms (we stayed in No1) have recently been upgraded and are beautifully decorated and appointed. Great attention to details has been given and Sandi's touch is all... More

This is the quickest review we've ever posted on TA. Usually, we'll be home a few days before we post one, but The Old Vicarage is SO good we knew we had to say something today. We drove away from this wonderful B&B this morning, absolutely full of the most perfect breakfast anyone would want, having spent two nights in... More

Sandi and Bryan are excellent hosts. The special touches such as home made cakes on your return from a long day out really make this B and B stand out. It's location within ever so easy walking distance of Barnstaple town centre means no arguments about who drives home after dinner. A real find, not sure I should be sharing... More

We’re grateful for you sharing your opinion on your find Feline and thank you for the review. It must have been a garden visiting week whilst you were here as all our guests seemed to enjoy going to RHS Rosemoor; was it coincidental that Chelsea was on or is something more magical at work? More

Do not even contemplate staying elsewhere in Barnstaple! This establishment certainly has the X-factor! The hosts, Bryan and Sandi, offer a service second to none: they are charming and delightful, laid-back yet efficient. Theirs is a labour of love and this radiates throughout the whole experience. The property is glorious and the gardens are divine (beautiful yet not manicured). I... More

Wow thanks Angie. We love your description of the garden (and Bryan likes being efficiently laid back) and are really looking forward to getting out there for some tender loving manicuring now that we have finished the refurbishment of Room 1. All the best. More
