My Mum and I stayed in one of the family rooms and it was lovely. Very well decorated and having both a double and single bed was perfect for us. It was large and spacious and we were welcomed with delicious home made cake. We were provided us with a lovely vegetarian breakfast and Bryan was happy to make suggestions... More

Thanks for taking the time to post a review Charlotte. We were glad you enjoyed exploring a little that North Devon has to offer and hope that you may be able to stay again to see all the other bits. All the best. More

Stayed at 'The Old Vic' on 18th July for 2 nights. All the previous comments were spot on. Sandi and Bryan were wonderful hosts. Room was great. Breakfast was delicious. The slice of homemade cake on arrival, and the following day, and fresh milk for your coffee/ tea was a really nice touch. So, forget the rest, and book the... More

Thank you Kevin. Your 31 mile walk from here to Ilfracombe on the SWCP was a great achievement; a slice of cake was the least we could do. It’ll be great to see you again for the next stretch. More

We stayed for three nights in June using rooms 1 & 4. The welcome was excellent - pot of tea and home-made cake. We thought that this would just happen on the first night, but Sandi produced fresh home-made cake each evening. The rooms were spacious, well appointed and the decoration was tasteful - obviously a great deal of care... More

Thank you for your generous comments, reviews and feedback are very much appreciated. Sandi’s been trying a few new recipes recently and has got a great brownie recipe from a good friend of ours which was today's offering; luckily there was a piece left for my supper! More

Stayed in May 2015 and all I can say is all the other reviews have said it for me! Sandi and Bryan have been meticulous in the decoration and maintenance of the Vicarage. The huge family rooms sleeping a double and two singles in two rooms with super bathroom and, joy of joys, a separate WC. Bryan was working to... More

Thank you for posting your review. It’s nice to hear that you enjoyed our refurbishments; all the lovely comments have made the last 3 years hard work so worthwhile. “Doing the garden” is now just the hobby and how we enjoy using our time off. More

Stayed for one night as we were running the next day, had a lovely big room, very clean & quiet. A nice piece of home made cake on arrival which was very welcome! Only had a continental breakfast but returning later this year for 2 nights to try the cooked breakfast. Guesthouse is walking distance to the town. Overall a... More

We stayed here last year & were very pleased to return as the very high standards were maintained. Sandi & Bryan are great hosts & made a memorable stay with their generous hospitality & attention. We were on the second floor with a view of the lovely garden. The bedroom was very clean & comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent with a... More

It was lovely seeing you both again, and hearing about how your family have settled in and are making a good go of it in Loxore. It has been a nice couple of months for returning guests and it is always good to catch up with everybody. Hopefully we’ll see you again in the future. Thank you for taking the... More

A real gem - spacious, beautifully decorated bedroom, immaculate en suite, super breakfast and the friendliest welcome. A really nice touch is the little flask of fresh milk for the in room tea/coffee to say nothing of the cake to go with it. The location is excellent - within easy walking distance of the High Street shops and restaurants -I... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and had the superior room with en suite and bath . Beautiful room with acres of space, fully equipped and decorated to an excellent standard. Thank you for your review Steve; we welcome the feedback and have taken on board the comments regarding breakfast. We haven’t tried the Gurkha on Maiden St yet -though have been satisfied with the larger one on Market St- so have added it to our “to do list”. All the best. More

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at The Old Vicarage B&B in April 2015. Our room was spacious, well furnished/decorated, cleaned to a high standard and had a wonderful view of the rear garden and church steeple. Breakfast was excellent, freshly prepared and served in a lovely breakfast room overlooking the rear garden. Sarah's home made cakes were... More

Thank you for your review Desire, we trust you got back to Australia safely and enjoyed the rest of your holiday. The view from your room has now changed slightly as the kitchen garden is now finished (I’m not sure if it was started when you were here or just about to be) and the vegetables are growing well. This was my third - and longest (seven nights) - stay at The Old Vicarage. How I love it there! B & Bs just don't get any better than the absolutely perfect haven that Sandi and Bryan have created in the very heart of Barnstaple. This time I stayed in the single room, which was lovely, but all the five... More

It was lovely seeing you again Vivienne; though we missed Cerys this time and trying to get a perfect boiled egg for her breakfast. We hope you all got home safely, with your luggage intact and evenly weighted! Yet again thank you for such a kind review, the pleasure was all ours. More
