Needed to spend time in Barnstaple on three separate occasions earlier this year ; short visits each time i.e. disproportionate amount of admin and work for any B & B owners, but Sandi and Bryan never appeared phased by this. Indeed, as we were always in town for hospital visits and then two funerals, we were clearly rather out of... More

The Old Vicarage is a lovely hidden gem in the centre of Barnstaple. A beautiful large old house in beautiful gardens tucked away in a quiet road but with ample parking and only a 5 min walk from the town centre. The rooms are comfortable and nicely furnished and the owners are friendly and welcoming (freshly baked cakes in room... More

Thank you for writing such a lovely description and for taking the time to post the review. We trust the ride went well without too many adventures along the way. We must try the second half of the ride ourselves one day; it’ll probably have to be in the winter though! We look forward to seeing you again; the ride... More

Our third visit and this time in a family room with an older relative. The family room was just perfect, though the fans were certainly welcome on the warm late July nights! It was nice to see Barnstaple and the surrounding area in the Summer. The cooked breakfasts were great, as usual. Planning our next visit, and probably with bikes... More

It was great to see you again Peter; you and Sue were one of our very first guests back in 2012, I will always remember how nervous I was serving breakfast. Thanks for taking the time to write a review and we will look forward to your next visit. More

Such a lovely place to stay. Ideal location to walk around the centre and along the river. Warm friendly welcome, love the little touches ( the chocolate and freshly bake cake). Comfortable room with everything you need to make it perfect. Breakfast with a view of the garden. High standard decor with crisp white linen. Thank you for making my... More

What a lovely B and B! From the delicious welcoming home baked cake to the generous extension to our check out time because of the rain, our hosts were indeed wonderful. The recently refurbished room had the most comfortable bath we've ever wallowed in, perfect for us after a long wet walk. The king size bed was very comfy and... More

Thank you so much. We’re glad you appreciated the new bath in Room 1 and that it served you well at the end of your walk all the way from Castle Cary on the Macmillan Way. Hopefully it made up for the only wet day! All the best for your next adventure. More

We couldn't fault this lovely B&B. Everything detail had been thought of and lovingly attended to, from the home-made cakes on offer each day to the beautiful 'boutique' rooms with crisp white bed linen and even the lovely garden. We stayed in the family suite on the top floor and it was just perfect, with a twin room & very... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We’re really pleased you enjoyed the family suite and it had everything you needed. We were a family of 5 and when planning the suite we thought about what we would have liked after having spent many a night in cramped family rooms. More

My wife & I stayed 3nights whilst visiting relatives in the area. Sandi & Bryan are great hosts & made a memorable stay with their generous hospitality & attention. The accommodation was very clean & comfortable & breakfasts were excellent. We loved Sandi's home baked cakes for tea. The location is ideal for a short walk to the town &... More

What a find. We could not fault this b&b. Although it is in the middle of Barnstaple, once in the house and gardens it is as if you are out in the countryside. Fabulous hosts, so friendly and helpful. We were given home made cake each day of our stay and fresh milk in a flask to use for tea.... More

We feel so lucky with our location Gaynor, we had wanted a country B&B but now have the best of both worlds, which does make our job that little bit easier. I recently stayed at the Old Vicarage and was immensely impressed. Sandi and Bryan are the perfect hosts, who really look after their guests; conversationally, they are both highly engaging and entertaining, and also most helpful and accommodating, offering their expert advice of the local restaurants and pubs. We were offered slices of cake on arrival, and the room had... More

We’re pleased you enjoyed your stay here and thank you for writing the review. Bryan’s father has tried most of the churches when he visits and says that they are all very welcoming. The closest, Holy Trinity, is a superb building built at about the same time as The Old Vicarage (or the New Vicarage back in the 19th century),... More
