I have stayed here twice now while away in business in Barnstaple. It is pretty much the best B&B I have stayed in. Luxurious room, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and the friendliest most gracious hosts. Can't praise The Old Vicarage enough. Worth every penny and more!

The Old Vicarage keeps getting better and better. This time we stayed in room 1, which has had the bathroom updated since the last time we had that room. Wow! The bathroom is very large, has a beautiful free-standing bath, very spacious shower and lovely toiletries and towels. The bed is very comfortable, and tastefully furnished with high quality linens.... More

Thanks Andy, it was lovely to see you all again. You were the first guests to stay in Room 1 who had stayed in it before the refurbishment, so we’re pleased that you appreciated the changes. Looking forward to your next stay. More

The Old Vicarage is a haven of peace and quiet and good taste. A great find when having to work away from home, always welcoming and comfortable, very tastefully decorated with stylish pieces of art. Best place to stay in the area.

The Old Vicarage is everything you could hope for in a B&B and more. Our room was spacious, attractive and very comfortable with an equally spacious and spotlessly clean ensuite bathroom. The shower was fabulous! We also appreciated the feather duvet which was much more comfortable than the synthetic duvets we have encountered in other accommodation. Breakfast was excellent, served... My husband and I stayed at the Old Vicarage in July, 2014. We traveled exclusively by public transport, so arrived in Barnstaple by train. The directions to the B&B sounded walkable from the train station. The distance was very reasonable and once we found the walled site, we were set. The house is beautifully appointed. Our suite was cool, with... More

Everything really great. Lovely building, well decorated and clean. First class hosts and great breakfast. I have stayed in many, many places in Europe and this is one of my favourites. The B and B is really close to the town yet peaceful.

My wife and I stayed here in October of 2014. We were greeted at the door by Sandi as we were parking our large touring-motorcycle. She showed us to our room which was like a mini-suite with entrance hall, private bathroom off this and bedroom. Sandi left us for a moment and returned with chocolate cake and milk for our... More

Thank you Tony and Cath; we hope your trip to Spain went well and look forward to seeing you again. We forgot to mention that Sandi went to school in Shepshed so next time it would be great to hear what has changed there over the years. All the best for safe riding over the winter. More

Needed a north Devon base for a couple of days on the SW Coast Path and came across The Old Vicarage partly by reading reviews on here. To maintain such a high standard of excellence over nearly 100 reviews speaks volumes. Everything was spot on, facilities in the room, superb en-suite, cracking veggie breakfast, coast path/ bus number recommendations from... More

Thanks for the review Jon, Tripadvisor is certainly good advertising but also excellent for keeping us on our toes to maintain our standards. We have a great occupation though as it is lovely when people appreciate what we do and how we do it. We look forward to welcoming you back to do some more of the coast path, hopefully... More
