We stayed here last year & were very pleased to return as the very high standards were maintained. Sandi & Bryan are great hosts & made a memorable stay with their generous hospitality & attention. We were on the second floor with a view of the lovely garden. The bedroom was very clean & comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent with a... More

It was lovely seeing you both again, and hearing about how your family have settled in and are making a good go of it in Loxore. It has been a nice couple of months for returning guests and it is always good to catch up with everybody. Hopefully we’ll see you again in the future. Thank you for taking the... More

A real gem - spacious, beautifully decorated bedroom, immaculate en suite, super breakfast and the friendliest welcome. A really nice touch is the little flask of fresh milk for the in room tea/coffee to say nothing of the cake to go with it. The location is excellent - within easy walking distance of the High Street shops and restaurants -I... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and had the superior room with en suite and bath . Beautiful room with acres of space, fully equipped and decorated to an excellent standard. Bathroom big enough to hold a dance in. Lovely friendly hosts with really nice breakfast. Only down side was they were a little bit quick on clearing away the... More

Thank you for your review Steve; we welcome the feedback and have taken on board the comments regarding breakfast. We haven’t tried the Gurkha on Maiden St yet -though have been satisfied with the larger one on Market St- so have added it to our “to do list”. All the best. More

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at The Old Vicarage B&B in April 2015. Our room was spacious, well furnished/decorated, cleaned to a high standard and had a wonderful view of the rear garden and church steeple. Breakfast was excellent, freshly prepared and served in a lovely breakfast room overlooking the rear garden. Sarah's home made cakes were... More

Thank you for your review Desire, we trust you got back to Australia safely and enjoyed the rest of your holiday. The view from your room has now changed slightly as the kitchen garden is now finished (I’m not sure if it was started when you were here or just about to be) and the vegetables are growing well. This was my third - and longest (seven nights) - stay at The Old Vicarage. How I love it there! B & Bs just don't get any better than the absolutely perfect haven that Sandi and Bryan have created in the very heart of Barnstaple. This time I stayed in the single room, which was lovely, but all the five... More

It was lovely seeing you again Vivienne; though we missed Cerys this time and trying to get a perfect boiled egg for her breakfast. We hope you all got home safely, with your luggage intact and evenly weighted! Yet again thank you for such a kind review, the pleasure was all ours. More

Stayed for 2 nights in the family suite. We were given a warm welcome on arrival. The family suite is highly recommended, the rooms were clean to a very high standard. Home made cakes were delicious and were a lovely surprise on arrival and on our second day. Breakfast was excellent. Would recommend The Old Vicarage B & B to... More

Thankyou Marie. It was nice to hear about Gordon’s family history and it was good that you were able to see so many of the places where his forebears lived. It is amazing to think that one of them was probably a gardener at the Old Vicarage when it wasn’t so old. More

What a charming, clean and inviting place to stay. We arrived just after 4pm and were met by Sandy the landlady who showed us to our room and then arrived shortly after with chocolate cake and fresh milk for the tea. The rooms are spacious and well furnished and the bathroom was fabulous with freestanding bath and large shower cubicle.... More

It always means something to us when we are a guest’s first review on TripAdvisor; thank you. We have several gluten free cake recipes, though it was the first time for gluten free brownies. These seemed to go down well with the other guests too by their comments at breakfast so maybe we’ll always use that recipe for brownies. More

Stayed at the Old Vicarage for 2 nights as a group of 6 walking the Coastal Trail. Friendly reception including amazing home-made cake, all the rooms were fresh and clean. Tasty breakfast too, could enjoy the garden before setting off each day. Just a perfect place for a stay in Devon, totally recommended.

The birds have been enjoying the young beans in the kitchen garden last week; it’s a good job they sing so well! Thank you for taking the time to write a review, it will be nice to have you stay again when you can see how the garden is coming along. More
