Not only did we enjoy a comfortable, well equipped hotel room, but we were also pleasantly surprised to find an excellent real ale bar on the premises. We returned to the same bar in the morning, and resisted the temptation to have another pint of Lancaster Brewery beer in favour of a full English breakfast which was just the job... More

We had food at the Duke hotel and it was rubbish. The food quality was poor at best. Orders came to different times to the others in party. Sides came ten minutes after the mains were finished. No steak knives multiple wrong orders. No glasses taken away when they were finished with. Same with the plates. And staff did not... More

Stayed here with my girlfriend on Valentine's day. Didn't really think to much of the hotel when we first pulled up but that all soon changed. The hotel is lovely inside and had the original wood stair case in and a nice glass elevator so as not to take away from looks of and feel of the building. The rooms... More

This is by far the nicest place to stay in Barrow. It is located between the Train station and the town centre and also offers a quality breakfast. I have eaten lunch in the restaurant a few times and the food is good also.

My fiancé and I have just returned from a valentines break here and could not fault the hotel or restaurant! The rooms are very modern and comfortable, and the staff are very friendly! We would definitely recommend this hotel!

My husband and I spent a night here as we were on a night out in Barrow and the last train home was too early! We were very impressed by the quality of the hotel. A welcoming receptionist and spacious yet cosy reception. Our room was a good size, a lovely big comfortable bed and plenty of tea and coffee.... More

Recently went to the Duke downstairs in the Vaults for a meal. Service was excellent a young girl with dark hair served us and she was so polite, helpful and took attention to detail and always had a smile on her face. Best food ever and for a three course meal for me and my husband cost us £36 as the... More

Well it's safe to say this wasn't what I expected for £189 for two nights, this hotel is located on a busy road with a council estate across the road and the local courts so you can imagine the view is spectacular.. When me and my girlfriend arrived at the hotel we stood at reception for what felt like an... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2015

Had a 9am interview in Barrow and decided to stay a couple of nights. Stayed last year and the hotel is much the same now but with a new Vaults restaurant area. First night was very quiet, needed to be up early and went without a beer. Instead I ate, on my own, at a restaurant round the corner. Second... More

Stayed here for a night and really wished I had booked longer, the hotel is located right in the town centre so it's very convenient, we stayed in room 212 I would definately recommend this room, it is a large room with a dressing area and very nice bathroom, one slight downside was there was not a bath but a...
