Car park on opposite side of very busy crossroads! Not good for carrying case/bags etc. Very very slow lift. From the outside it looks old and tired. Room was great. Very modern and large. Despite being on a busy road it wasn't noisy. Food/bar area was fine. Good food for dinner and breakfast. Pleasant staff.

Booked here for 2 nights but only stayed one due to work changing, I did ask if I could have another night in credit to use as another time but this wasn't possible which was a shame, I'd of been giving 5 out of 5 then. Really nice bar, I come in often for a drink, bar staff know there... More

I've stayed at the Duke for the past 3 months and it's always been a pleasure to stay there. The staff are very pleasant and extremely helpful (even on the several occasions I've forgotten an item in my room following check out). The bar & restaurant downstairs serve great quality food and have a very good range of beers (local... More

Conveniently located opposite the train station, this hotel has comfortable modern rooms with an excellent well stocked bar and restaurant. The best thing about this place was the staff, who were always helpful.

We booked a stay here for one night in November 2015 and have to say we were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews on here. The room we had booked was a 'Double Executive' and it was so much bigger than we expected. It was clean, had an amazing bathroom and we only wished we could have stayed... More

Visited for three days with my partner 30th December until 2nd January 2016. When we arrived the helpful receptionist changed our room up grading to a bigger room with a bath ( the one we had initially been given did not have a bath) for no extra charge. Room was large, clean and well decorated really comfortable with a roll... More

We stayed for two nights in December. The room we stayed in was large, with a very large bed (two singles pushed together, but you couldn't feel the dividing line). The bed itself was comfy and the room clean and well presented. The room was overly warm and the temperature control didn't seem to be very effective at bringing down... More

I stayed here for 3 nights over the Christmas period. I am from barrow originally so unlike other reviewers was not shocked by the town construction!! I had originally thought the hotel was advertised as a 5* therefore was nitpicking at a couple of issues however on prepRing to write my review I found this hotel only advertises as a... More

From the friendly greeting I got when calling to make the booking with the receptionist (sally I think) to the relaxed check in, with complimentary upgrade that made us feel our custom was valued, the friendly happy smiley bar staff, we couldn't fault our stay Thank you

Stayed here a couple of times now. Right by the station but not loud. Rooms comfortable, bar and food is good (certainly 4 real ales on tap with a nice log fire) Book a taxi the day before if you need one in the morning, gets busy with business types checking out. In room dvd player. Recommended
