We stopped over for one night only, on our way home from a weeks holiday in the Scottish Highlands, to attend a 25th wedding anniversary party at the nearby Barrow Cricket Club. We stayed in the new annex, which was an excellent upgrade and fitted out to a very high standard, super bathroom and quietlly located even though there was... More

After much searching for hotels in Barrow, near to Furness Abbey, we came across The Chetwynde and it has been perfect. It was easy to find and there is a large parking area. The hotel has a certain old world charm with a nice dining room and a comfortable bar area and lounge. We had a room in the new... More

We had a celebratory meal in the restaurant and everything was excellent. The food was well cooked and presented and the service was unhurried but efficient and attentive. The owners and staff made us very welcome and all in all we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We didn't stay over this time but in future would probably do so and... More

We stayed or two nights over the Easter weekend in the family room (2 adults, 2 chidren) and had a very pleasant stay. The room was clean and spacious - not especially new in terms of decor but we liked the charm of the hotel - lots of antique furniture fitted the period feel of the property. The staff were... More

This was my second stay here but the first time I had dinner in the hotel. The breakfasts have always been excellent. I had three course for dinner. I ordered rib eye steak which come just how i ordered and I must say it was the tenderest steak Ive ever have. The whole meal was well cooked and well served.... More

I have been in many hotels where I was a couple of minutes late for breakfast but only one where they didn't even offer me some toast. Bit of a blessing anyway the food was dire and the service shoddy

This guest was twenty minutes late for breakfast and accepted that he had been told in his reservation confirmation, on check in, via hotel signage and when he enquired the night before about breakfast times. When I asked the guest to kindly provide constructive feedback about his dining experience (the guest dined both nights he was here), he could not... More

My wife and two year old daughter stayed at the Hotel for two nights over valentines day weekend and picked the hotel based on trip advisor reviews. We were told the family room was booked so we were offered a standard double with a pull out bed for our daughter at £70 per night including breakfast which we thought was... More

We are sorry that music from the bar on our tapas night initially disturbed the guest. When the guest called for the second time just after 9pm we had turned the volume down again and asked the guest if this was satisfactory, or if he would prefer a free upgrade to a superior room in a separate annex, detached from... I stayed for three nights on a business trip, and found the hotel to be extremely comfortable (I was in the annex) though surprisingly quiet at dinner. The staff were pleasant, though I got the impression that management had cut back on the numbers due to the low number of guests using the bar and restaurant. The bedroom was well... More

My wife and I recently spent one night at the Cheywnde Hotel in Barrow and can only thank them for their excellent service. We had a disabled room in the annexe which was very good. The service by the staff was excellent from arrival to departure. The meal we had in the restaurant was very good and the staff were... More

I was really excited about staying there after reading positive reviews. The car parking was secure and ample, the receptionist was (very) pretty and chatty and the whole atmosphere was really nice. The room was well equipped and clean with really generous drink facilities along with nice shortbread and kendal mint cake. There were far to many signs on the... More

We always welcome feedback from guests. Ideally we hope a guest will provide us with this feedback on departure to allow us to explain, apologise or compensate the guest for any areas where we have not lived up to their expectations. We unfortunately did not receive this feedback from this guest on departure. Firstly, this guest was provided a free... More
