Stayed here for three nights due to working in the area. Friendly owner (over friendly most times) on arrival but it went downhill from there. It seemed like Bates Motel from the film Phsyco with mother always pottering about in the background. The room was very old and slightly smelly and in dire need of a makeover. Shower had hardly... I recently stayed here for three nights in a single room. The room was well equipped and clean. The.breakfasts and dinners were excellent, and the proprietor was very helpful and a great source of local stories. I had the best steak and kidney pie I've had for years, which apparently come from a local bakery. The only weak point was... More

In need of extensive refurbishment! Old carpets, hearing off at night. Shower didn't work properly and mouldy, old bedding and very cold. Owner called us up 30 mins after booking and told us to come ASAP as reception was not 24 hours! Told him we'd only just booked and were having a bite to eat. Had to really knock when... More

I was their in January with a couple friend. Seriously not one good thing to say. Rooms stink of dampness, sheets stained, a pubic hair YES a pubic hair and other hairs was on the bed sheets. Meant to be clean towels stained on them. When having the meal the fellow (trying to be nice in all fairness) stood right... More

This will be my first online review, I felt the need to warn others. First impressions, not good, the driveway was very poorly maintained, full of deep pot holes, obviously not good for your car but it was the only way to get to their car park. The main entrance/vestibule was next to a very strongly smelling gents toilet (not... More

Comfortable and traditional English seaside type hotel. Good home-grown food, house speciality at this time of year is anything with apples or apple sauce! Convenient for Barrow docks and business area.

booked last minute through Booking.com in fact 12.18pm to be precise. Although it said check-in from 16.00 we called around 14.00 hoping to check in early. The place looked closed. Door locked and no sign of anyone. We decided to leave and come back nearer to 16.00. At 15.40 the place was still in darkness. I rang both doorbells, knocked... More

Beautiful gardens, that's it. Room was outdated, enjoyed not sleeping in a bed that was uncomfortable and felt as if I was laying on springs. Decor old, worn and dirty. Pipes all over, don't know why as no hot water either. Not that I could shower as the grout between the tiles were orange pure filth!! Carpets patched, stained and... More
