This hotel is above an old fashioned pub which seems to be suffering a bit of an identity crisis. This is a traditional pub with exposed beams and real fire.We stayed in August but I imagine the pub would be fantastically cosy and welcoming in winter. The staff and locals were welcoming and friendly, rooms immaculately clean and the breakfast was to die for! An excellent base for walking and for real ale enthusiasts this pub is a must. more

went to lake district for new year and stayed in mariners public house.welcomed by everyone and rooms were comfortable and clean,and for the price (£30 p.p.p.n.)very reasonable.best breakfast i have ever had in hotel and would tell anybody to stay there as i am again in april along with 19 other golfers. more
