We ate at the white house restaurant and hotel. Never again. The staff were not interested, she disappeared to do something wandering back several minutes later with no apology. We ordered and the food arrived quickly. The steak and ale pie tasted of too much pepper and the 8oz gammon steak was about 3oz and burnt to a crisp. The... More

We stayed in the annex - room 5 just round the side of Churchills Pub - which also belongs to the White House. Room spacious enough, wet room plenty big enough. Bed comfy. However everything else was a bit slapdash and in big need of TLC - We shared the room with 4 spiders and a daddy long legs! No... More

Spent 3 nights with my wife, not bad for £260 with breakfast . Room was pleasant enough. found the staff your friendly and eager to please, breakfast was fine no complaints at all about it. As for parking £15 for 3 days at the long stay car park 2 mins walk away I thought was very reasonable. All in all... More

I arrived at this hotel at a quarter to nine in the evening after a long 14 hour days work. The booking had been made in advance. Imagine my horror when the owner told me that he had double booked the room (due to a busy Bank Holiday) and had been trying to contact me !!. He was not apologetic... More

I haven't actually been to this hotel but judging by the previous comments I'm glad that I didn't go through with the booking I attempted to make today. On booking.com it states £85 for standard or superior family room with breakfast. However I had trouble with the site so phoned the hotel directly to be told it would be £135... More

I would like to start this review by saying how good the staff were. All very pleasant. We stayed in Room 2 of the Annexe, The foyer was full of laundry bags the 2 days we were there which wasn't welcoming. The grounds looked as if they needed completing. Everywhere looks like it needs a good lick of paint (which... More

I have enjoyed many a holiday break in Bowness and have stayed in some really good accommodation, unfortunately this isn't one of them. Ok, we arrived just after 12.30 and the room wasn't ready, fair enough and I was quite condescendingly told that we shouldn't be booking in until 3pm anyway....."fair enough" went back at 3 to be told it would... Stayed for one night in a superior family annexe room. Adequate as somewhere to put your head but not great if planning on spending time in the room. A tired room in need of tlc, shabby paint work, toilet seat loose, a good clean & so on. One double and 2 singles that clearly didn't fit any planned room layout.... More

We booked very last minute (watching the weather). If you have a baby ask for room 5. It is great to accommodate a travel cot which you have to bring as theirs keeps getting pinched. It had a king size bed which was very comfortable and a wet room shower. You can go downstairs and have a drink in the... More
