Stayed recently for a short break and it is a super hotel. Great views over the lake and the food is also excellent. Staff very friendly and lots of places to sit and relax in the public rooms. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The bar was also spectacular in that the bar counter and windows were said... More

So, another week spent in this perfect hotel, arrived 24th October and (sadly) departed on the 31st. Last time we stayed in February a lot of the refurbishment of the ‘public’ areas was still work in progress but appears to be completed now – looks fantastic. Hotel busy with a couple of big parties when we arrived but didn’t stop... More

We have just been today for afternoon tea. This is a lovely hitel in a wonderful setting. We had a window seat with a lake view which was excellent. Although the food was very tasty there was not much of it. We have been to several places for afternoon tea recently and we felt that this was not as good... More

we stayed for three nights on dinner bed and breakfast. We had a room with a lake view which was just the most beautiful view I have ever seen. The room was lovely, warm and cosy, yet elegant and beautiful furnished, in keeping with the building. Huge bed, very comfortable, the little duck biscuits everyday were wonderful. The staff couldn't... More

The hotel is right on Lake Windermere with gorgeous views. It is set away from the busy tourist area of Bowness and you will see the odd tour boat come up to the waters in front of the hotel and turn around meaning this is a very quiet part of the lake. The hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms are... More

Stayed only one night but wish we could have stayed longer. The location is truly stunning, even on a wet and windy day its breath taking. The food was second to none thanks to the wonderful Conor and his team. The room we had (22) had a lovely view but was a bit shabby and not in a chic way

We were invited to a 90th birthday party at the hotel this weekend. The birthday girl was staying in the hotel for 2 nights along with other members of her family. We were made most welcome by all the staff. We weren't staying but we felt at home home each time we entered the hotel. There were 74 of us,... More

Recently stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. We were lucky enough to utilise a Waitrose deal, making our stay more reasonable, with dinner, breakfast and cream tea included; all were of the highest quality. I've never been too bothered by scones, but these were incredible - light, buttery and crumbly, with clotted cream and some fantastic jam.... More

Really recommend as food and service is great. Location is simply the best and setting is second to none. Only comment is that there is no background music whilst having the afternoon tea service. Doesnt need a man playing a piano.. Just a cd and speakers would be suffice!
