We stayed here for an overnight on the way home from Lancashire. We were booked in for dinner , bed and breakfast. We had a great time and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing location in the lakes. You can walk into Bowness in 30-40 minutes at a leisurely pace.Hotel is also close to Hawkshead ferry... More

We have just returned from a three night stay in a lake view room. The location of this hotel is perfect. Quiet surroundings, superb views over Lake Windermere, no traffic noise! The staff are attentive but not intrusive, friendly and thoughtful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. Everything was home... More

Not the cheapest one night break, but as the saying goes 'you get what you pay for'! Lovely place to visit with beautiful gardens to sit out and enjoy afternoon tea. The staff are really helpful and friendly, rooms more than adequate and the food to die for. Well worth a visit, we'll definitely be returning again.

We booked this hotel on recommendation from friends and it is a very nice hotel indeed in a lovely quiet setting overlooking Lake Windermere. It is a fine old country house with a new restaurant annex and has been improved over the years I understand, to become a lovely place to have a meal and to stay. The staff are... More

A delightfully extended Country House which is situated within lovely grounds and gardens. This was our first experience of staying and dining in this beautiful Hotel and it won`t be the last. It is fair to say you must have your own transport as it is a short joruney up from the Lake but on arrival there is plenty of... More

Lovely setting and very friendly helpful staff. We stayed b&b on the hotest week of the year. Our room (18) was small, but very clean, there was no aircon or room fan so we had to have the window open and it was noisy with deliverys in the morning. The room was noisy till just after 10 at night as... More

My wife and I had a two night DBB stay booked through Hotel Shop. Very friendly staff. Clean and adequately sized room with good bathroom and a shower that was simple to use (not always the case in hotels) The two evening meals were very good, and elegantly served. The fine, hot weather made sitting outside in the evening with coffee... He stayed here on a 2 night deal that included dinner and breakfast. The grounds were well appointed and the hotel being set up on a hill looked over the lakes at the bottom. When we booked the hotel we put a note on saying we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and my birthday and if possible could we have... More

My husband and I were invited to lunch here by some friends who were hosting a reunion. Our friends' hospitality was superb and we had a wonderful time. Drinks outside were plentiful, relaxed and informal. Lovely! The hotel itself was in an attractive, peaceful location. As we knew, the room would not be ready until after the event, but there... The process of booking a hotel and being satisfied with the outcome is becoming increasingly less predictable. It is understandable that a Hotel will portray itself in the most complimentary way, but there is a danger that lack of objectivity when describing its benefits and amenities to showcase itself to maximum benefit could result in customers being disappointed. If Hotels... More
