Hotel overall is very comfortable with a lovely though warm swimming pool.Upgraded on arrival to a four poster bedroom room 126,which was lovely but unfortunately had very poor ventilation, in particular the bathroom had no form of ventilation and resembled a sauna after shower.Room supplied with a fan so I suspect this is a common complaint. After reading previous tripadvisor... more

Spent three nights here and had excellent break. The room we had was a refurbished room in the extension. It was lovely.Enormous queen size bed in large room with a large beautifully furnished bathroom. We were at the back of the hotel with a lot of work being done so no views to speak of. This didnt matter as most... more

We stay here for 4 nights during our visit to the lakes and found the rooms to be of a standard you expect from macdonald hotels. The location however is superb. Overlooking the lovely lake windermere and yet right in the centre of bowness town for dining and drinking (try Jintana Thai for food and Bodega Bar for drinks). The... more

The hotel is on the lakefront with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. We got a 'Feature' room with lake view - It had a tall thin window instead of a big picture window like some other rooms, but it was still nice. The lake view rooms seem to be a lot more expensive - if we stayed again we... more

This was an excellent place to stay the bedrooms were spacious and the hotel was clean, tidy and friendly. We had a room only as it is very close to the town center so lot of choice to eat breakfast and we could get up at our leisure. There was an excellent Tapas restaurant that we went to called Lucy4!... more

I booked this hotel for a well deserved break with my family. The location is excellent, near to the pier and all the amenities. We had an 'executive' family room. The room had a wonderful view over the lake. However, the children were in what can only be described as a cupboard with a sliding door and bunk beds built... more

We stayed for 1 night at the Old England and paid just over £200 for a 'Feature Room', on arrival we were fortunate enough to be upgraded to an Executive Suite. However, I have to say I was dissapointed with the room. The view from the room over the lake was really nice and but apart from that it was... more

The hotel is in a lovely setting and the room and facilities (gym, pool, steam room etc) were nice enough. The service was undeservedly pompous at best and downright rude at worst. As I was only there for one night and work was paying for me it wasn't that bad. If I'd actually paid for the hotel, I'd be outraged.... more

We stayed here for 3 nights over the May Bank Holiday taking 3 rooms as we were with extended family. The brochure and information on the hotel gives the impression that it is very contemporary and stylish and refurbished to a very high standard. Now that depends which room they give you!! One of our party had one of these... more
