This hotel has a prominent and beautiful setting in Bowness. It however fails dismally in presentation inside and out. The exterior is well overdue a paint 'job' and the interior is tired and sadly lacks the style and class which would have been evident in it's heyday. Serious money is needed to be spent on this hotel. My view is... more

Stayed in room 12 - clear it had been newly refurbished with modern feel such as spot lights and plasma TV on the wall. Very clean. Food excellent and staff accomodating. Great view from restaurant of lake. Very good location for shops and sightseeing. Beautiful hotel grounds nicely maintained. Would definately stay again if in area. Lucy Green, West Midlands more

This hotel is slightly shabby - it could do with a good lick of paint. However the views over the lake are amazing - make sure you ask for a lake view room - it's worth the upgrade price (our original room overlooked the air conditioning units!). Have a drink in the bar and watch the boats on the lake... more

Sink wasin the bedroom!... more

On arriving at Bowness I could see the hotel on the hill side and was thoroughly impressed. As soon as a stepped out of the car and looked at the external building my first comment to my wife were "this could do with a lick of paint". Unfortunately this continued into the hotel and although I initially got a "deal"... more

My wife and I have just returned from 3 days at the Belsfield with an organised group. We had one of the recently refurbished rooms in a rear wing and this was execellent. Great reading lights (very important), flat screen TV bright new bathroom and comfortable beds. The food was really much, much better than expected for a group of... more

We were very pleasantly suprised at this hotel. Although parts of it could do with some re-furbishment, the rooms were really lovely and modern although we did find the room far too hot even after turing off the heating so therefore found it difficult to sleep even though it was late October. Breakfast was good and staff very polite and... more

Stayed here for one night, the room was a twin room, in a block recently renovated. It was in excellent condition, with doors opening to the garden and an outdoor seating area. I did not experience the poor quality experienced by other reviewers, and overall the staff were friendly (and spoke english), the location excellent, super views of the lake,... more

I stayed in the Belsfield for two nights on business, it's in an excellent location - very close to shops, some very nice places to eat, the passenger/car ferries and about a half-hour walk from the Windermere station - there was plenty of parking, the pool was excellent and the breakfast was nice; however, I stayed in one of the... more
