Group of 6 adults visited for two nights for 40th celebration. Gorgeous setting combined with helpful staff. Extra special touches made it an unforgettable stay. Christmas time is a lovely time to stay with the large Christmas tree nr the log fire and sweeping staircase. Room was spacious but furniture could be updated a bit. Huge bathroom too. Pool facilities... More

For easy access to Windermere this is the hotel to select. It is rated 3 star, but lives up to 4 star standards. The Windermere lake and village are walking distance. The staff are excellent. Breakfast was good. After refurbishment the rooms are pleasant and do not appear dated. This is my fourth or fifth visit to this hotel. The... More

We arrived on May 4th for a 3 night stay, booked with a groupon voucher. We were pleased to find a very attractive building which hadn't been turned into a "chrome & carpet" palace. The decor was pleasing as befitted the building. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Given the excellent value for... More

Did not stay at the hotel, however the Sunday carvery lunch was sensational. We did three courses, and almost had the place to ourselves. The waitstaff were lovely (we did have practically undivided attention) but did enjoy one of the best roast meals ever. The chicken in particular was excellent. Could have done without the starter and dessert, which, although... More

After reading some of the horror reviews, We arrived at the hotel for our family get together with some intrepidation, but our first impression was it looked nice and had quality look about it. The booking in was good, however they did take payment, as we booked into the hotel, which was a first for us. Did they think we... More

This hotel was clean and the majority of staff were pleasant and helpful. On the downside the hotel was extremely hot which made us feel groggy, even though we had all windows open. The decor was old fashioned and the rooms could do with a bit of a facelift. Wherever you stepped in the hotel it creaked like an old haunted... More

Recently stayed at the above hotel, found to be in exellent position. Hotel very clean although room was a bit dated but a reasonable size but found we had to ask for hospitality tray to be topped up. Service in restraurant was very good but staff seemed on edge and we found it difficult to relax and enjoy our breakfast... More

Amazing views fabulous hotel highly recommended!!! Food extremely taste and beautifully presented !!!!!!! We arrived and the place has a real wow factor with the out looking view of the country side and beautiful Windermere lake. The staff at the reception helped by sorting out a little bit of a mix up with our booking. The bar staff were very... More

We stayed here recently and experienced something we havent had before - a lower level of customer service! :-( We are Gold members and stay as often as we can afford and normally everything is super but not on this last occasion sadly. There is a new restaurant manager it seems and we were not impressed. He served us at... More
