We visited Linthwaite House Hotel recently for a few days walking in The Lakes. We knew the countryside would be fab but the hotel matched it. So what's so special about it? Well the hotel is lovely, the rooms very nice and tastefully finished but others can provide this I'm sure. Their edge is the dining experience - the food... More

Having stayed at this hotel some time ago and been disappointed with the box like room overlooking the kitchens that we were given, although we had paid for a superior room, we decided to call in for tea and scones after a day's walking to give it another chance.Disappointment again! We could not order tea and scones, only full afternoon tea.We... We were greeted as soon as we arrived & offered a table either on the terrace or in the conservatory. We chose the terrace as the weather was so nice & the views quite spectacular. We had a visiting friendly Robin & a small rabbit grazing not more than 5mtrs away. We were offered all types of tea and chose... More

The beautiful premises were not matched by the disappointing service and dining experience. There was no menu from which to consider choice of tea and the waiter had to ascertain what varieties were available for us. The choice of cakes was good though out balanced the limited number of sandwiches, some of which were beginning to go hard at the... More

This is such a beautiful place! The surrounding area is breathtaking and the walk to the tarn was enchanting. The staff were always polite, warm and very welcoming. We ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the whole culinary experience - fantastic quality and presentation and the atmosphere was relaxed and unpretentious. Again, the service was second to none! Breakfast... More

We came to Linthwaite yesterday for afternoon tea courtesy of a Mother's Day voucher from my daughter. As we had combined the visit with a few nights glamping in the south lakes, we arrived early with the view of finding a walk to fill the time. We were welcomed warmly and told about the views and photo opportunities from the... More

We have just come back from our weekend stay, which was a birthday present from my partner as we love the Lake District and we love a good weekend break. The hotel grounds are stunning, and the location couldn't have been better. The tarn is definitely worth seeing, it was so peaceful there and I love the little seating area... More

Previous reviews have said all there is to about the quality of the hotel and staff, all excellent. The hotel is only a pleasant 20 minute walk into Bowness although a short stretch (200yds) is on the fairly busy A5074 with no pavement. The grounds are lovely with short walks and viewpoints offering wonderful views over Windermere lake and the... More

We recently stayed at Linthwaite in August after visiting at Easter. They were extremely accommodating for our family requirements and nothing was too much trouble, even dinner for our girls at short notice. Rob and the team are a great asset to Linthwaite. The restaurant was excellent as usual, we always feel relaxed and welcome. R & J

We stayed recently at the Linthwaite House Hotel as part of a weekend break on the Northern Belle. Everything was perfect - the room (22) was comfortable and well-equipped, bathroom was immaculate and spacious and the hot tub was much enjoyed too! The public spaces are delightful, with spectacular views from the light and airy conservatory. The staff were courteous... More

Wow, the best food you've ever eaten! That's a big compliment. Naturally we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and we hope to be able to welcome you back again in the future with or without the Northern Belle! Kind regards Mike Bevans More
