Visited on 3/02/16 with my boyfriend and his Mum for her birthday and we couldn't fault a thing! Being foodies we have visited many restaurants and I think this was up there with one of the very best. The staff are all friendly and very accommodating, especially our waitress. A lovely Chinese lady who was happy to help with everything... More

Linthwaite is an extremely comfortable and welcoming small hotel with lovely scenic views, but what really sets it apart are the unbeatable service and Chris O'Callaghan's fabulous cooking. The fact this was our second visit in six weeks and (I think) the fourth in a year says it all really...we'll be back soon!

Fantastic hotel. Staff and facilities beyond compare. Food especially the taster menu is to die for. Try the Damson Twister Drink.(Damson Gin, Soda, Eldaflower) . Rooms an ideal size and very quiet. Whole hotel very clean and inviting.

The Husband and I have stayed here a few times over the years, and the quality of food and service remains as good today as it was 15 years ago. There is a special atmosphere at Linthwaite that we feel privileged to know; a relaxed, friendly, yet luxurious feeling that when coupled with excellent food sets it apart from the... More

A great place to relax and use as a base for walking & seeing the Lakes. Staff were brilliant - friendly and helpful. We had a delicious evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant - good food, wine and cocktails. It's close to Windermere but well away from traffic and busyness. The hotel has a welcomingly good feel about it... More

Wonderful stay with open fires and luxury in the snow. Room super with a fridge which is a wonderful amenity and one I wish was more readily available. Super coffee machine in the room. Food excellent as ever. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff always helpful and never intrusive. Almost your wish is their command This is not... More

Following the extreme weather and floods, Linthwaite was an excellent warm and dry venue. The food (we had the tasting menu with wines on the first night) was excellent clearly superior to some of the local starred establiahments. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. The staff were helpful and always had a smile on their face. We look... More

It's nice to be compared favourably with some of the starred restaurants. Chef will love it. Linthwaite is a nice cosy place to hide from the elements. And we're on a hill. But the rest of the Lakes is also open and despite the press you can still drive to Keswick albeit via the beautiful Ullswater. Come back soon, Cumbria... More

This was a last minute booking based on a favourable weather forecast (proved to be inaccurate but can't blame hotel for that!). We have been to this hotel many times before and as usual the service and ambience were excellent. We stayed in room 25 which was comfortable and enjoyed a wonderful evening meal. The breakfast was fantastic and kept... More

Loughrigg's a good walk isn't it? It's not far away and you can do a short medium or long hike on it. Delighted you enjoyed Linthwaite too and we hope to see you back soon, Thanks for the review. Best wishes Mike More

We stayed here in November 2015 and really enjoyed the visit, so we returned in January 2016. This time we booked a room with a lake view which was made even better by the hills being covered in snow! The food and the service are outstanding with a friendly feel and we will certainly return.

Stayed for one night after getting DBB in the January sales . Although the weather was typically Cumbrian (i.e. wet) we couldn't have asked for a better place to hide inside. The basic double room was cosy but very well equipped and furnished with multiple windows that looked out over the grounds. We were welcomed and made to feel at... More
