Absolutely disgusting we only went in the room for 5 mins and left, the room smelled awful, the decor was very dated, would not recommend for anyone to ever stay there, no lift for disabled person, there was cobwebs all around the room, all furniture was scratched, the bathroom was dirty, the beds smelled disgusting, all I can say is... Arriving at the hotel we were greeted by the lobby, which was pleasant. Waiting a while for staff to see to us, when they finally turned up, card machine wouldn't work. Received our room key and headed towards our room. As we walked there the hotel seem to worsen in quality like the good was just on the outside. Reaching... More

We visit this area once a year and normally stay at the Holiday Inn but we decided to have a change, I remembered this hotel from when it was the Clayton Lodge and it has a good location for what we wanted. When we arrived the room looked ok and the bedding clean, the bathroom looked at first as if... More

I do not usually write reviews and this is the first I have written for a hotel. We stayed to visit family over New Year. We had no extra bed or towels in our room and had to chase twice before receiving. The room itself looked quite nice but tired. There was no heating in our room. Broken tile on... More

We stayed for 2 nights over new year and this place is dreadful. Our room was in the grim 70s extension and had no heating, after numerous attempts to get this sorted or change rooms we were given a death trap of an electric heater. The staff are generally disinterested, with a couple of exceptions. The room was dirty. See... More

Xmas party Dec 2015 Car park On arrival the car park was poorly lit, there was a lack of available parking spaces and it was an accident waiting to happen as cars were meandering in all directions. Entrance The entrance was besieged by smokers blocking the door to the building blowing smoke in your face as you passed, great start... More

Booked on the recommendation of someone who had been last year! Nearly cancelled though as when calling to speak to the Events Manager re the party night encounted 'Dave' on reception who was rude unprofessional and the most unsuitable person I have ever encountered to work in customer relations! Despite this we did attend and had a fab time!! The... More

We stayed here on the 8th December for a family funeral the next day. The main building on arrival looked beautiful as did the lobby with a grand piano and twinkling lights. We were shown to our rooms which at first glance looked clean and tidy. However, on further inspection the bottom of the window was smashed, we had no... More
