As a returning customer, the staff were friendly & helpful as always. The food was very good. We had the Ostler Restaurant to ourselves on the night in question. The only thing that I wasn't particularly happy about is that there was a surcharge on some dishes on the menu, for example, steak. This is not a criticism of the... More

One of the first to try the newly launched menu. Excellent, well worth a visit. Recommend the Lamb & Sea Bass, followed by the Cherry Bakewell, but plenty more to choose from Service with a smile and made to feel welcome

I choose this hotel as a venue for my Mind, Body and Spirit Fayre due to it's fantastic location. I was so impressed with the staff and Management throughout the whole booking process and also on the day itself, nothing was too much trouble and the day was a huge success, lunch was very nice too :) thanks very much... Three of us went. Two of us got better rooms than the other. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. The cutlery looked cheap, which didn't bode well, but the starters were fine and the mains were actually good. However, the ice cream I had for pudding was just supermarket neopolitan and the coffee... More

We recently held a charity night at the Borough Arms Hotel. The management and events team were very helpful, accommodating and professional throughout. I had 2 meetings with the team prior to the event, and my wishes were carried out perfectly, and on arrival the room was laid out to my exact specifications. The owner even came and introduced himself to... Very basic double room. Cant moan at price as I got an on line deal. I had previously spent two nights in the guesthouse down the road, which I felt spoilt me, It was an Ok experience. I had been previously warned not to eat out there in the evening, Paying a fiver for breakfast felt fine though. The waitress... More

Despite very helpful staff I would not recommend this establishment. Rooms very tired and dated, musty old curtains at window and smelt of bleach. A relic of a bathroom with peeling Lino and dirty nets at the window. Breakfast looked ok but the smell of dirty tea cups was off putting. Just pleased it was one overnight stop.

The worst : avoid the rooms detached. Ask for the rooms located at the main building rather the ones detached after the parking area and you're good. The best: 1. Free wifi throughout at it's best speed. 2. Free parking. 3. A walking distance from city centre. 4. Reasonable £5 English breakfast was nice. 5. Staff are helpful. 6. Sound... More

Stayed after a wedding. The food was excellent for the afternoon meal, evening buffet and breakfast the following morning. Shame that the rooms need lots of money refurbisling them, but at £50 a night including breakfast, you get what you pay for.
