I am currently staying at the Borough Arms hotel.... What excellent staff, so friendly and so polite they cannot do enough for you. The room is very cosy and very clean and it provides all that is needed for a extremely happy and comfortable stay. The quality of the food is excellent and it comes beautifully presented and it is... More

The staff are friendly and professional, the location is really convenient, the bed one of the comfiest hotel beds I've ever slept in and the breakfast terrific. Only the slightly tired decor and some bits of overdue maintenance detract from a fantastic, great value hotel

Had a lovely meal at the Borough Arms on Mother's Day. The restaurant was full but the food and service were both faultless. I would recommend the Borough Arms for any occasion - we have had Sunday lunch here many times as well as meals in the bar and it is always very good.

I recently arranged a party at the Borough Arms Hotel for my parents Diamond Wedding Anniversary. From my initial contact with the receptionist right through to the evening of the party I found every member of staff very polite, helpful and keen to help ensure that the party was a memorable occasion for my parents. I had booked for a... More

I recently organized a lunch for 22 ladies at the Borough Arms, it was the first time we had used this venue. Prior to the meal, the hotel provided menus offering a varied selection of dishes, from which guests were able to select dishes for either two or three courses. This allowed me to assemble their requirements and forward them... More

My husband and I hired the King's Room for our Golden Wedding Anniversary on 30th March and, although this was also Mothering Sunday and the public restaurant was extremely busy, we received excellent service. From the beginning of our negotiations with Emma, the Events Co-ordinator, nothing was too much trouble and they were prepared to accommodate our dietary needs. The... More

We booked the Borough Arms for catering event and everything worked very well. The manager was exceptionally helpful throughout the process and on the day all went very well. The food was well received and I think our family was happy with everything. I guess the only thing they could improve was that the bar closed quite early at 10.30.

We returned to The Borough for my dads 90th Birthday celebration along with 27 guests, after having a number of family parties there. Whilst it was a busy Sunday lunchtime all our needs were catered for without exception. Planning the party was made easy by all the staff we spoke to and the day went splendidly. Everyone was treated excellently... More

I stayed here for a night as I was working close by the next day. The staff were good and my room clean, with a comfortable bed. But everywhere was a bit dated and the decorations rather tired. However, this is not an expensive place, the meal I had in the bar was good and excellent value as was breakfast.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Borough Arms Hotel and Restaurant is one of the oldest established hotels in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent areas, with history dating back to 1783. The hotel is very much of the style associated with a traditional English town centre coaching inn, yet has been sensitively and subtly refined to offer the comfort and modern standards demanded by today's visitors. Independently owned and managed, the hotel retains many period features and takes great pride in offering a very personal service. As a valued guest, you may be confident that we will do our utmost to ensure your comfort, whether you are staying in one of our 40 centrally heated, en-suite rooms, visiting us for a meal in the restaurant, or using our conference and banqueting facilities. ... more   less
