I haven’t reached home from my stay at the Cumberland, yet I’m already writing the review as this hotel deserves recognition for their excellence.

The hotel is spotless, modern and well polished, but what really stands out is that it’s ran by genuinely kind and helpful people. Upon arrival, the owner took our bags from us on the esplanade and carried them up to our rooms.

We parked at Radipole car park for £4 a day using scratch cards given to us by the hotel, this is only a short walk away and didn’t bother us as we visit Weymouth regularly, so we never have high expectations in terms of parking next to accommodation! This option for us was super convenient.

The room itself was beautifully presented and super clean. Housekeeping visited each day, with fresh fluffy towels and fresh supplies of biscuits, leaving the room spotless as the day we arrived.

We stayed in room 9 which has ample storage for a weeks stay and a stunning sea view, I woke up each morning in a super comfortable bed listening to the waves of the ocean - what more can you wish for?

Breakfast each morning was exceptional, the best breakfasts we have had in Weymouth. Full English, vegetarian options and continental complete with fresh fruit, tea, coffee and juices, the whole family was well set for the day each morning.

We have been staying in Weymouth all my life, from self-catering to hotel stays, this is the best experience we have had so far! We will be visiting again next time we return.

Excellent weekend break at the Cumberland for a very reasonable price. Mark the owner gave us a very friendly welcome and served a fantastic breakfast in the morning. The attention to detail in the breakfast room and in the hotel room was exceptional. Mark and Claire are obviously experienced in what is needed in a good hotel service and they certainly delivered that to their guests. The room was modernly decorated and was very clean. Even with Covid regulations they made sure the room tea & coffee facilities were replenished with a paper bag on the door. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the beach and seafront, as well as walking distance from restaurants and pubs. The car park was a 5 minute walk around the corner and you need to pay, but the hotel have a discount card for each guest so make sure you go to the hotel first before parking your car. We were able to leave the car for the weekend and walk absolutely everywhere! Amazing weekend Cumberland! Thank you, we will be back again!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Cumberland. Mark and Claire did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They went out of their way to provide a tasty glutenfree vegan breakfast every morning, which is no mean feat! The room was comfortable and clean. As was the ensuite. There were multiple hand sanitising stations around, and checking in was done contactless which helped us feel secure (Covid wise).
The scratchcard parking tickets were very helpful and saved us money. The location of the hotel was superb. The view was lovely. I would happily stay at The Cumberland again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Weymouth

Lovely little hotel. Right on the sea front. Central with shops and restaurants a ten minute walk. Very clean and smelt lovely. Didn't even have to switch a light on as there was sensor lighting throughout. Mark was lovely and very welcoming. We were even lucky enough to get a parking permit. We stayed in Room 6. A small double ensuite on the 1st floor with access to a small balcony. The shower was compact but everything you needed was supplied - towels, flannels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, anti bac handwash, etc. even cotton wool balls and cotton buds. Getting onto the balcony was fun as it was through a large sash window. However, when we stayed we were so lucky with the weather and it was a joy to sit on the balcony (they even supplied cushions for the chairs) and eat breakfast looking out over the beach and doing a bit of people watching, lol. Oh and the breakfast was wonderful. Served in a hamper, everything you could want - fruit, yoghurts, pastries, cereal, milk, orange juice and either a sausage or bacon sandwich. We actually preferred it to a full English! Every day we would come back to a little bag containing extras for the tea tray, even biscuits! A really lovely touch. Weymouth is beautiful and The Cumberland was the cherry on the cake.

We stayed here on the first weekend hotels could reopen and were impressed by all the measures in place to protect guests. The host was there to welcome us and explain the new procedures as well as local recommendations for dinner.
The hotel was immaculate and perfectly situated on the bay. It was walking distance to the harbour and to local attractions.
Breakfast was fantastic- delivered in a basket to our room and a real feast. Including hot wrapped veggie sausage sandwiches! We ate it on the balcony watching horses gallop on the beach and a fawn who appeared to take a swim! I loved watching the sunset and sunrise across the bay from the balcony.
The only slight glitch was the poor water pressure in the shower. A very minor issue.
I would recommend a stay here to anyone visiting Weymouth.

Just returned from our which must be our 6th year staying here. So we have stayed here before covid, so knew that Claire and Mark would go out of their way to make it safe for their guests. Mark and Claire have gone over and above with regards to keeping everything covid free, hand sanitisers in all access areas, screens at reception and our room and all other public areas kept very clean. Although breakfast is normally served in restaurant, we knew a breakfast basket would be delivered to our room each morning. What can we say, we loved it, it was just like Christmas morning opening and finding all the fresh goodies(cereal, fruits, pastrys, yoghurt, fresh milk and lovely cold orange juice) and even a hot bacon sandwich, which was an extra surprise. Normally we would travel down by train, as station is just around corner, so easy walking distance, but due to current situation we drove, we were able to get a discounted pre pay parking ticket from B&B and parked just behind the property. The hotel is situated right on the seafront and within easy walking distance of town, harbour and other local attractions. Mark and Claire are wonderful hosts, always welcoming and helpful, they have a lovely home so thankyou once again Mark and Claire and we will be back same time next year.

Fabulous place to stay!! The cumberland offers everything you need for that break away right by the sea. We arrived at the location to be greeted by Claire who was so welcoming and accommodating she showed us to our room and advised us on parking either out of the front or surrounding streets where we could park. The room was lovely it was an ideal size with en-suite bathroom plenty of storage and was lovely and clean. It also offered an iron and ironing board as well as tea, coffee and biscuits for that extra touch. Our room also had a balcony where you could sit outside over looking the sea and watch the world go by. The breakfast was done by Mark who was very accommodating friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. As we walked in we were seated and asked what hot drinks we would like and to help ourself to the juices, fruits, cereals, and yoghurts available before being asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast and what we would like. This was always a delicious breakfast that would set you up for the day. The Cumberland is an ideal location where you are just a 5 min walk away to the town, local shops bars and restaurants which then leads you onto the harbour. It’s an ideal position for local buses and transport to get you around Weymouth and the Jurassic coast. I would certainly recommend The Cumberland to anyone visiting Weymouth and will most certainly be returning again soon.

We stayed for 4 nights with our 3 year old and had a wonderful holiday. The Cumberland was in a fantastic location on the seafront and we managed to get a parking space on the Royal Yard car park which is directly behind the hotel and was only £6 per day.

The room was lovely and breakfast was fantastic, our daughter loved the little extras in the room and the lovely kids plates and cup that were left out for her at breakfast. Thankyou for a great holiday

First I have to apologise to Claire and Mark. You see we stayed in The Cumberland at the beginning of September last year and I am sure I wrote a glowing review of our excellent stay at the time, but I can’t find it. A bit of a mystery.

Anyway we have just returned from our second stay and it was exactly as our last, brilliant. We arrived 31 May and stayed for a week and our stay was even better as we got to enjoy Mark and Claire’s most superb breakfast (last time we had a breakfast basket due to Covid-19 which although very good is not quite the same as a home cooked meal and a bit of breakfast banter).

Our room on the top floor was clean and recently decorated. Cosy and bijou with a great view of the bay. Coffee and tea replenished daily, toiletries in the bathroom. Mark and Claire will clean your room daily or not that is up to you. Just a perfect example of their warm welcome and hospitality.

The B&B is perfectly placed, just round the corner from the train station and a 5 min stroll into the town. The sea front is literally across the road. Weymouth has a lot to offer, everything from traditional seaside to trendy eateries frequented by the yachting clientele.

We love The Cumberland and we will return. Thank you Claire and Mark for your welcome and for creating our perfect home from home in Weymouth.

We asked to change rooms after one night as the one we were in was a bit small for my husband who has dementia and gets a bit claustrophobic, Mark told me the 2 rooms they had empty and let us go and have a look at them to choose which one we wanted. Both of them were very nice but we opted for room 4 which is on 1st floor. Although they are unable to do the usual breakfasts they deliver a breakfast hamper to your door at 8--30am, containing all sorts of goodies, either a bacon or sausage sandwich (hot) pastries, cakes, fruit, cereals and milk and orange juice. I must admit when we were first told about this I was disappointed as I do enjoy my cooked breakfast when I am on holiday, but I must say it was lovely and kept us going. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and I would recommend it to anyone.
