We stayed here a night in August 2015. The room we were assigned to was quite large and at a first sight seemed comfortable (though a little shabby).. except that in the middle of the night, during a not uncommon scottish rain, we woke up and find out that it was copiously raining in the room, close to phones, plugs... Stayed there for 1 night after attending a wedding. It was somewhere to lay our heads. Rooms were very shabby despite having had some titivation to look good on photographs. Holes in walls, paper on some walls and ceiling all shabby and mis matched. Bathroom clean, but shabby. Bath handle broken. Mirror shabby and worn. The quirky bits do add... More

Positives - Incredible price, lovely surrounding, breakfast was good, everything inside the room you would need and a lovely pub adjoined to the hotel. Negatives - Rooms were shabby, very little to do in the area and surrounding, everything seemed to close down early, very noisy due to the lovely pub on site and no wifi, barely in the lobby... We had the pleasure of staying in this hotel over the weekend when we attended a wedding. The hotel is slightly dated and could do with a lick of paint but it all adds to the character of the hotel. The room was spacious clean and tidy and all in all very comfortable. The only issue was that the free... More

Could be a beautiful hotel if money is invested on the rooms and on training the staff. Stayed for 3 nights last weekend, paying £95 a night for a double room and breakfast. Would never stay at the Huntly again as our room was run down and not very clean. cobwebs everywhere and the blind int the bathroom you could... More

Nice old fashioned hotel. We were here for two nights. The first one was quite nice , except no light in the room, but as it was beginning of july and a nice sunny day , no problem. The next evening was dark and rainy and they had repaired one of the three lights !! we ask for one more... More

I booked this hotel as a relaxing weekend away for me and my partner before the arrival of our baby and i have to say that our stay in the hotel was anything but relaxing. Yes the room was outdated in it's decor and the tv only had 4 channels but that was of no great significance. The main problem... More

yes its (very) dated, yes the rooms can be (very) small and SHOCKING but only analogue TV in the rooms. However, the rooms and the bathrooms are clean, bed linen and towels replaced every day and although staff may have broken English they do their best to help and are polite and friendly. The breakfast was good - staff very... More

We were aware of some very poor reviews, but the area was where we required to be. The Hotel itself is in a very good location for both Aboyne and Royal Deeside. It is true that the building has seen better days and is rather tired and drab at the moment. Some paint and a clean up of the grounds... More

Myself and my family stayed here for a weekend in July as a relative was getting married in nearby Glen Tanar. We booked here as other family members had already booked and so we wanted to be in the same hotel. Then I came here and read the reviews and started to regret my booking! However as it often the...
