We stayed here in April for our wedding anniversary. Oh Dear!!! The hotel is steeped in history but has stuck in the olden days. Not one light in our room had a decent wattage so your eyes hurt after a short while of reading a book. The king sized mattress was put on a sagging, old DOUBLE base which was... More

No positives to write about at this hotel. Right from the off on entering the unwelcoming reception & lounge area, you know things aren't going to go well. The room I was in faced a side wing so no panoramic views for me, only granite brick. The room itself was drab & better suited to being a room in a... More

I recently (April) had the pleasure of staying at the Huntly Arms in Aboyne after glowing recommendations from friends. I was given a warm welcome by the lovely staff and after a long trip from Bristol I was ready to hit the hay. But when I arrived at the hotel, which is steeped in history, I couldn't resist a nose... I booked this hotel as a last resort as I couldn't find anything else within a decent price range. My son had an open day at Aberdeen university with an early so an overnight stay was a must. The twin room we were given was truly awful. we had a single and a double bed. As I paid for the... More

We stayed here for one night on an Itison deal in order to visit old haunts in Aberdeenshire. Last stayed in this hotel 25 years ago - and it is certainly looking tired and shabby and needs complete face-lift. But the location in the heart of the village is superb, the staff were friendly and very helpful and the we... More

Stayed for 1 night with the husband. I feel the hotel is in real need of a upgrade the rooms r tiered and dated and a luttle grubby. Tgis hotel has so much potential given the building, history and location. I feel looking at other bespoke hotels this hotel is a big disappointment. I found the staff very friendly and... More

We booked this hotel to extend a weekend stay in Aberdeenshire. Perhaps thankfully we didn't check Trip Advisor comments beforehand. In all fairness before I pass comment I have to say we couldn't have had a better deal and I feel almost embarrassed that the hotel couldn't possibly have made a profit from our stay. We paid £45 for DBB... More

This hotel was dark and badly lit. The receptionist clearly had more important things to than book us in and her face showed it when we walked through the difficult revolving door. The main bedroom light did not work, the bedside lights were so dim that we had to remove the shades in order to read in bed, disturbing the... More

This could be a fantastic hotel, but it seems about 5 years overdue for a major refurbishment. The carpets are wearing, threadbare on the stairs, the bathroom (in my room) was cramped and falling apart, the shower guard had a corner price missing and the toiletries shelves that appear to have been there (over the sink and in the shower)...
