This was my second visit to Douneside; We drove up from Devon and it was absolutely worth the drive. We spent three days playing tennis, croquet, badminton, mini-golf and snooker, plus swimming, running, walking and relaxing in the beautiful gardens. The views are gorgeous, the staff friendly and relaxed, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Everything about Douneside is... More

My wife and I recently spent nine nights at Douneside House. This is not our first visit and each time we arrive it is like arriving at an old friend's house (but a lot more comfortable!) and the welcome is as warm. My wife suffers from a disabling neurological condition and cannot walk without assistance. Her four-wheeled aid presented no... More

We have never failed to thoroughly enjoy ourselves at Douneside. Plenty of good walks locally to get the appetite up (very important if you go full board and have morning coffee and afternoon tea), and the Jacuzzi in the pool is a must. The food is always great, although the set menu can cause the odd issue for some eaters,... More

My wife and I had another wonderful stay at Douneside. Relaxing and enjoyable as always. As we have been going for nearly 20 years, we have seen many changes but always for the better and the forthcoming ones to help ensure we have Douneside to enjoy for the next 20, are sensible and necessary and have our wholehearted support.. Well... More

I booked Douneside for a large family party and we had the whole venue last weekend. We had the most fabulous time - sunshine, great food, happy times and lots of laughter. The staff were fantastic and with over 20 small children showed endless patience . They were exhausted after games, swimming, the play park, exploring the grounds and countless... More

Douneside House is quite exceptional. A beautiful Country House set in its own glorious highland estate. We felt totally at home right from the personal warm welcome on arrival. Full facilities on site for every need - I loved the indoor pool and gymnasium. Great walks within the estate boundaries and beyond. Elegant, but welcoming, public rooms. Superb staff. Bedrooms... We have been visiting Douneside for over 20 years. The facilities are diverse and the location provides opportunities for a wide variety of activities including walking, climbing, fishing and golf. There are also many local places of interest including some spectacular gardens that are always worth a visit. We have always been made most welcome and been well looked after.... More

Douneside was recommended to us by my parents and my aunt and uncle who went there together annually during their retirement until they could no longer manage the journey north! This unique place is located in exceptionally beautiful countryside and offers peace, quiet, a comfortable and clean environment, friendly service and excellent food. These things are important to us, so... More

I was given information on this hotel via an ex-army regimental news-sheet. No wonder as the hotel is mainly used by ex-service personnel. With its location in Aberdeenshire, a region of Scotland I had never visited I decided to book a room for my wife and me and another for a friend. The hotel is located in the most glorious... More

My wife and I brought with us an elderly aunt who is diabetic and of limited mobility. This was a great success. Our rooms were much improved from our last visit 9 years ago and the food was excellent (we were on Full Board). The staff were very attentive and the needs of our aunt were met in the most... More
