We were visiting Tarland for a birthday celebration and were looking for a comfortable hotel and a peaceful night's rest. The Commercial Hotel in Tarland fitted the bill perfectly. In addition there was an excellent breakfast awaiting for us in the morning. One can't always depend on such a good breakfast choice in a small country hotel especially when served... More

Stay there!!! The best folk in Aberdeenshire are in there. Best owners, best staff, best everything. Bev and Chris have done the most wonderful rennovation on this hotel and made it a "must stay" even if you are conducting business in Aberdeen. I would highly recommend, that, at the end of a long day, you drive back, through the most... More

My husband and I stayed for two nights and were very happy with our stay. The staff are pleasant and very helpful. Our bedroom was comfortable and well furnished. Lovely choice of hot drinks in our room. My husband likes hot chocolate and was so happy to see the hotel supplied . We went to Malta in June and the... More

. This small village has very little for the tourist though it’s a pleasant place for a brief one night stop as you have to stop somewhere. This hotel and bar had friendly service and a good breakfast. Unfortunately it still seemed stuck in old Scottish feeling of the public bar was a bastion for males and a near real... More

We are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay but perplexed that you feel there is little here for the tourist. I feel it is difficult to come to that conclusion when staying alone for one night, checking in at 4 pm and leaving after breakfast -this leaves really no time to explore the village and surrounding area. We are... More

Booked a few days here en route up north, primarily because it accepted dogs (and got a good write up on Trip Advisor!) could quite happily have stayed longer. Although there is not too much to Tarland, it is an excellent base for forest walks and nearby villages of Ballater and Braemar. The hotel staff and facilities were second to... More

First time we have tried the Commercial Hotel and we enjoyed our Sunday Lunch all fresh ingredients and cooked well. We will return to try some of the other items on the menu. The prices were ok, about right for what we ordered, the service was polite and the staff looked after us very well.

We picked this hotel for a break so we could escape the grotty weather at home, what a great choice, pleasant staff, great food, super clean room with modern facilities. The dinner menu had such a choice it was quite difficult to make up our minds, the fish pie was fantastic as was the home made soup with home baked... More

We absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms were lovely, the bathrooms were great, the food was wonderful and the staff was too. We spent the evening (and half the night) in the pub with a lot of the locals and had a great time. Say hello to Donald and Charlie for us when visit, you'll find them sitting in the... More

we live in aboyne but few places there to eat so decided to try the commercial. The menu was varied and we were delighted with our choices . The restaurant and bar (where we chose to eat ) had definitely had a make over since I visited a while ago. It was modern and bright and welcoming. The staff were... More

Lovely hotel situated in a quiet village, I was concerned when I booked it as we didn't know anything about Tarland or the hotel but there was no need to worry as soon as we stepped into the front door we were made welcome by a young chap who booked us in and showed us to our room (5) which...
