For “upmarket” accomodation in the Teesdale area The Rose & Crown is probably the best available… excellent setting overlooking a very pretty village green and within a few hundred yards of both the Teesdale Way walk and the Teesdale cycle track. But… first off, it’s cold up here: so, to take advantage of either of these two excellent options to... more

We stayed overnight at the Rose and Crown in August and managed to book their very last room. Despite being full, the hotel was always completely calm and the staff friendly and extremely helpful. We were travelling with our dog and arrived from a camp site looking pretty dishevelled. They couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming to us. They... more

Booked for one night in a Standard Room in the main building at a cost of £150.00 per night for 2 persons inclusive of full English Breakfast. We arrived on Sunday at lunch time and although busy were able get a small table in the bar and a well prepared bar snack. In the evening we had a meal in... more

I have had a the pleasure of dining in this lovely establishment several times. On each occasion my family and i have taken sunday lunch in the restaurant, which has been a delightful experience. Firstly, it has to be said that this hotel is situated in the very pretty village of Romaldkirk close to Barnard Castle. The hotel is a... more

We stopped here at 2pm for some lunch only to be told that lunch finished at 1.30 and the staff had gone home. As we left, we spotted a plaque on the wall. An award for “Good Hospitality” with the strap line “Best of British”. My irony meter went off the scale. This type of service in an upper range... more

Just had the most marvellous stay at this lovely hotel. Log fires, relaxed and friendly ambience and excellent food - what more can you want. The staff are professional, efficient and incredibly friendly - nothing is too much trouble. The food is superb and presented beautifully and very good value for money. The room was spacious and well designed and... more

Ok, let’s get things straight right from the very start. We won our stay at the Rose and Crown in a charity raffle, the stay was for two nights, bed and breakfast. We decided to wait until we were ready to take the break, which was towards the end of the stay period (between the months of October and March),... more

Have just spent a night at the Rose and Crown for dinner, bed and breakfast and can highly recommend it. Romaldkirk is a beautiful village in a quiet setting. We booked a superior room which was furnished to a very high standard. The staff were very attentive and the food was superb. If I had to complain about anything it... more

We have just returned from a very pleasant break at the Rose & Crown, Romaldkirk. Our room (7) , classed as superior, was beautiful - quiet, very comfortable and view over the village green. We loved the speaker in the bathroom and enjoyed relaxing in a hot bath listening to the selection of CDs. Lovely walks from the village and... more

Have just returned from the beautiful Rose an Crown Hotel in Romaldkirk. Staff are friendly and attentive from check in right until departure. The room was light, airy and spacious with good quality fixtures and an executive feel. Food was superb, both in the restaurant and brasserie. I see another review states the fish was small and disappointing - our... more
